Can you sand down your glass?

Discussion in 'Smoking Accessories Q&A' started by pitcrew114, Nov 27, 2014.

  1. I got a Swiss perc bubbler and my girlfriend accidentally dropped it and all that broke was the mouth piece. I think if I can sand it down the piece can be saved. Regular sand paper or any better suggestions?

  2. Depends how much you'd have to sand off. I'd go with a very small grit of sand paper tho

  3. Yes, i broke the end of a dome, and sanded it down, making it look like a brand new diagonal dome

  6. It really depends on the chip. Glass can be brittle so avoid aggressive files, or overly coarse sandpaper. Typically you would start with a coarse and work up to a fine grit sandpaper. This will allow you to control the amount of material removed. You will probably want to wet sand to avoid swirl marks. If you have a dremel and a carbide tip you could potentially do the hard work with it.

  8. Go to a glass blower. That's a pretty serious break

  9.
yea get a real fix done.

  10. Lol any suggestions on how to possibly get in touch with a glass blower?

  11. Facebook.

Google local glassblowers in your area and add them on facebook then message them.

  12. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1417217144.995186.jpg I bought some sand paper and sanded down the edges honestly the break isn't even noticable anymore so I don't even care thanks for the responses

  13. Well, the rest of the mouthpiece will break. Maybe not right now, but you have lost all structure there. And how do you seal around that with your mouth? Slackjawed? Thanks for heeding advice asked for. Any decent LHS will put you in touch with a glassblower

  14. well if it breaks I'll sand that too unless it's actually broken. Honestly the piece hits like new it's just turned to the side now instead of straight ahead and I'm pretty sure a glass blower would cost more than my current budget lol
