So this is my first grow ever. I am a professional greenhouse grower but not for this. Poinsettias are very similar but not for nutritional info. Anyways, I use tap water which is at 175 ppm. I also use General Hydroponics Micro and Bloom [Lucas Formula] (1 ml micro + 2 ml bloom gives me 100 ppm, 2 ml micro + 4 ml bloom about 200 ppm etc.. I just started using 200 ppm + 175 from tap after topping it last week. Obviously I pH down my solution from 8.5 to 6. Looking at my Plant considering the problems are starting on bottom it tells me it can only be so many things: N,P,K,Mg excess or deficient OR high EC (fertilizer burn). That puts us at Mg. Perhaps I need to switch to the Hard Micro? Maybe I need some CALMG? (don't want to affect my K:Ca:Mg ratio) or maybe I need a complete overhaul of my nutrients and just get General Organics. Plz help I don't wanna be the bozo who couldn't even grow his first plant properly. If I left any info you need to know about inform me. Again this is very different setting that growing flowers and being able to take substrate and tissue samples in a lab rather than just guessing. Maybe I have plenty of Mg but too much Ca is inhibiting Mg uptake?
Plz zoom into the margins of the chlorotic lower leaf. You can see a bronze pattern right near the tips in a perfect pattern down the foliage
Exactly 5 weeks ago radical emerged from seed the mater is 2 weeks older and the 2 little peppers 2 weeks younger. 3 parts Fox Farms 1 Part Perlite 1 Part Vermiculite
I will get some better pics in natural light later today. I transplanted it from 6 inch to 3 gal yesterday and it really started to show these signs
Interveinal Chlorosis profressing to necrosis on older leaves. Mg deficiency but I am not sure if it's lack of Mg or too much Ca. I think I need to add some CALMAG but only for a couple weeks or switch to Hard Micro. I really wish I had more experience but I guess I have to trial and error.
Or maybe I should start by adding a tsp of Magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) to my next feeding. Any suggestions?? Great idea bud!!
In the greenhouse when this happens we switch to a low phosphate nitrate based CalMg fertilizer so I don't have experience with epsom salt. The nitrate Nitrogen helps bump up the substrate pH a bit without having to lime, low phophorus to reduce stretch. Is Epsom salt water soluble?
