Germination sprouting

  1. I put the tap root face down in the soil and covered it up. 24 hours later, the seeds were sticking out of the top of the dirt because the tap root growing was just pushing the seed up instead. Do i push farther down or is my soil too tight?

  2. A quarter inch to a half inch deep, taproot down.

  3. Umm..it's growing.  It's supposed to come out of the soil.  ;)  Just leave it alone.  It will pop it's helmet off soon enough.

  4. You could put some more soil on top if it has really just pushed itself out, but I suspect it's just growing. If it's shells are still attached you probably didn't put it dedeep enough. If they don't fall off on their own within a day, you may have to prize them off yourself. But be careful. If you aren't  confident doing it, spray it with water a few times a day to soften it up to make it easier for the plant to shed them
