  1. So all of a sudden when my batteries are on the charger they get super hot like I can't hold them cuz there so hot. Is this a sign of bad batts or the charger?

  2. It's normal just make sure that they haven't off gassed.  It panicked me at first and I emailed MF about it, that's what they said. Just watch you don't burn yourself and remove them when the charger LEDs are green.

  3. Ok thank you for the quick reply

Umm.........regardless what Magic Flight says, if a battery gets very much hotter than they used to get, it is a sign that the battery is beginning to fail.   The danger is that a failing battery may not trip the circuits in the charger that would keep the battery from being overcharged and could pose a fire hazard.     Extreme heat like that could be an indication that the battery is being overcharged.

To be on the safe, do not charge those particular batteries when you're not at home.    Just monitor them and make sure that the charging stops at the typical time that they used to stop charging.

Normally, batteries will be warm off the charger, but they should never be too hot to hold.

  5. Yeah like if you put it in your palm then close your hand it would prob leave burn marks cuz there so hot

Yup.......that's an indication of failing batteries.     Just keep a very close eye on them when charging so that don't overcharge too much and go into meltdown.

Also, I think it's time to buy some new batts.

  9. Sorry If I mislead you, wasn't my intention.  I'd assumed that this was the first charge of the batteries.  As this is what happened to me first time out. Anyway, all 8 of the glyph batteries that I bought have at some point got really hot on the charger.

    Subject Charging batteries
Message; Hi I've just recieved my MFLB from Amazon and I have put the batteries in to charge. The problem is that the batteries are getting VERY hot while charging. They get so hot that they can burn you. Is this normal behavior for them? I'm worried about leaving them unattended in case the catch fire.

Thanks for reaching out to us here at Magic-Flight. Not to fear! It's perfectly normal for the batteries to get hot while charging. Once the batteries are nearly fully charged, the charger goes into “trickle charge mode,” and the temperature will gradually cool over the next few hours.
Also, it may sound obvious, but always double-check that the + and – ends of your batteries are inserted properly. If the batteries are inserted the wrong direction, the batteries can quickly overheat, and if left long enough, can actually cause the batteries to discharge potassium hydroxide, which is relatively harmless, but messy.
The easiest method for most people is to put the batteries on the charger overnight, then remove them in the morning, and put on the black battery caps.
Please let me know if there are any questions left unanswered. We want you to be fully enabled to get optimal performance from your Launch Box and accessories. We are always here for you as part of our Magic-Flight family.

    With Loving Regards,

    DonnaMite!
