5000k for veg or 2700k

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Joghorn, Nov 26, 2014.

  1. I'm not shopping online, so dont mention it please.
    dont say anything about CFL either, with christmas comes HID. but these two plants are staying CFL to harvest anyway just as an experiment.

    alright so after checking Lowes home depot and Ace, I can only find 6500k in 13w bulbs and im just not doing that. right now i have the 5000Ks and a bunch of 2700k in 23w actual. i can only find them online and im not dealing with that hassle, as my dumb ass, does not have a debit card.

    NEways,

    Would it be better to swap that, and do 8 2700Ks + 4 5000Ks all the way through and just flip my timer when its flower time? i have 8 5000K and 4 2700k but i have 8 of each.

    2700k = flower
    6500k = veg
    5000k = usable but less effective get the right shit especially with cfls. CFLs are everywhere wal mart, walgreens ,Menard's, pretty much any store that sells light bulbs. Get the highest watts you can.

    Did you even read the post? I went to walmart, lowes, home depot, and ace hardware, spent hours and gas. the only reason i dont have 6500K bulbs now is i dont want to use 40 13w lights with a ton of splitters and bullshit, they have the small ones in 65, but for some reason in my area, none of those stores have them, all of the worth while sized bulbs(23w&up) all seem to top out at 5000k. Philillips makes their daylights in 6500k, but also none of those places in my area seem to have them either? I had home depot ship them to the store, so we'll see there, but for the time being, leave the 5ks, or put in 8 of the 2700s?

    I know all textbook stuff too, but if someone had done so or had experience i would like that input. not the text book jargon.

    2 inches away, 6500k for veg, 100w per plant(seems small to me, so i multiplied that by 4)
    Veg for some indeterminate amount of time, (im going off height)
    Flower in 2700k until most trichs are amber or 75%ish cloudy.

    Minus all the technical crap that go in between there(watt equivilant, cooling, exhaust, etc...) thats it.

    BUT as this is my first time with CFL,(thank god new HID setup coming) and am at this crossroads, Has anyone ever grown with JUST 2700k all the way through?

    I have seen a thread about running 2700k or 6500k all the way through start to finish and don't quote me on this :bongin: but I remember something about the plants just don't grow as good with improper lighting but you can do it. I think it was something about 2700Ks cause the plant to stretch more.

    I noticed the 6500K 23w CFLs were hard to find too. I just used 20w 5000Ks I had laying around. For now I would just run all the higher watt 5000Ks you have and fill the rest with your highest watt 2700Ks.

  5. Well im using 4x 100 watt cfl 23   it is daylight running 5000k.

    And I have 2x 15 watt florescence tube running 7800k.

    Had to upgrade as to reason i had some stretched linky seedlings when I was using some other shit lol..

    But to OP yea I cant find 6700k for nothing out here.

  6. 2 month old post ....I think the op is past wondering about lights. As far as 6500k though, look a little harder they sell them everywhere or eBay, amazon. I've personally bought them from wal mart, Menard's, Lowes and a few other common places.

    O damn yeah lol didn't notice was lit at the time my bad saw it was on 1st page and decided ill help lol forgetting to see post date oops !!

    My walmart does not carry it so i have 5000ks I heard its fine to use

  8. they'll work, anything will work but CFLs have enough down falls if you can find 6500 it would be in your best interest. They're a common bulb sold everywhere, dig harder you'll find them.....good luck man
