How many THC edibles should I have?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Crackhead420, Nov 25, 2014.

  1. I just bought 5 candy cannabis infused edibles. The vendor claims each one contains 65mg THC. I smoke on average 1 joint a day. I can easily break the candy up its not too hard. How many candys should I have 1, 1 and a half, 2? I am overweight if that makes a difference. I want to get quite high not just buzzed.

  2. Also should I eat it on an empty stomach or have a piece of bread or something just before?

I would start at 10mg; if they are dosed accurately by their activated THC I usually only eat 25-50mg and I smoke concentrates daily, but some people have fewer cannabinoid receptors in their digestive tract so they have to consume more. I know people that smoke about as much as I do and can consume 200mg+ without any issues, but I'd start low and work your way up about 10mg at a time, also keeping in mind that it can take up to 2 hours after consumption for some people to feel the full effects. I'd also personally recommend eating something before, if I have an empty stomach edibles can bother it, and I don't feel like I have notably different effects after eating either.

    EDIT:

I don't feel like I can emphasize moderation enough when it comes to edibles; particularly since you can always eat more of an edible later, but you can't un-eat an edible after you're too high.

  4. This is the trickiest part of the hobby. Correct dosage for a stranger. Dispensaries don't want OD calls from emergency rooms nor do they wish returns for impotency. Everyone is different. Situations are different. (Pick Floyd concert is different than family reunion unless you are Roger Waters) Empty stomach, down disposition a scare all produce variations.
This is where you are both the Doctor and the Pharmacist. Don't treat this lightly. You have additional responsibilities. Like the Boy Scouts: Be Prepared! Most folks don't start drinking by chugging a quart of scotch or running by doing a marathon. If you survive (and you will) you can take more next time.

Assuming for the sake of argument you're smoking kind bud with a 20% THC content... 65mg of THC is roughly equivalent to 325mg or 0.325g of kind bud.

So I would recommend that you weigh the amount of herb you put into your daily joint. If you are used to smoking 20%THC kind bud and your joints are about 0.3g, then 65mg would be a good starter dose for your first edible.

If on the other hand, smoking 0.3g of kind bud in one sitting would be an overdose for you, then I recommend you start very carefully, maybe with a half candy or a weaker home made edible? :)

  7. An edible has a standard dose of 10mg (1 serving) THC, so if you're a first-timer, it's best to take 5mg (half) or less. When buying an edible, make sure to check the package of how much of a dose the edible has. The effect of the edible will take 30-60 minutes before it kicks in so better wait before taking more.

  8. Only Coconut Oil hits that fast. All other cooking oils take a full 2 hours to gets cranking. If the edible says it contains Olive oil for example then allow a full 120 minutes for effects to be felt before adding more.

  9. Smoking weed and eating weed are 2 different effects
Also ,you lose cannabinoids when you put fire to it .

  12. no idea why an 8 year old thread was brought back to life, but please, no one listen to this advice - smoking tolerance has ZERO influence on edible tolerance
