Earring as a bong bowl screen?

    Hey Grasscity it been years since Ive been on here  :wave:  but....
     
    I just got a new bong and the bowl hole is a wee bit big. Do you think it's a good idea to use an earring as a screen (without the back on obviously)? I know a lot of ya'll are probably dudes on here and never considered it, but hey! its worth a try to see if you all have any opinions on it.. 
     
    also, please don't mention, a pebble(i will be smoking wax & bud mixed and don't want a wax coated pebble), faucet screen (don't have any) or buying them (don't have a car or headshop close by).

    Here's an idea go to a gas station and get rolling papers
     
    Put small holes in the rolling paper and put it at the bottom of the bowl.
     
    Youll probably have to tear it because you dont want the paper catching fire till the weed burns to the bottom.
     
    Not a permanent solution but it might work. Just an idea I made up just now.
    (Perhaps you can walk to a gas station)

    I know i can do that, but the paper tends to fall through as well with the bud. Im a very conservative weed smoker lol. I don't like my little bits falling through into the bong :)

    And when you get to the bottom, the paper burns, falls through the hole and you get a mouth full of scoob.

    I don't see a problem with using a bigass diamond. It's just carbon after all.
    But are you willing to risk a diamond op?
    I wouldn't use any other metals unless you happen to have any grade 2 TI earrings laying around.

    Im not using the top of the earring bc it might get ruined, and it's not a diamond either. Its the back of a Piercing earring (the one you first start off with when you get your ears pierced) Not sure what it's made of, Ill have to research it a bit.

    For your health, just don't use it.
    Just stare at the bong until you get a screen. A one time thing won't kill you, but heavy metal poisoning is no joke. Please just wait, and enjoy staring at the glass.

    Ya don't use an earring as a screen. That sounds ridiculous. Maybe if they were surgical stainless. But would you bet your lungs on it?

    Is there nothing in your house made of glass you could perhaps break and clean? An old candle, perhaps?

    I think an earring would work.  They sell small glass pieces that are shaped like jacks, very similar to earrings.  Good thinking.

    Do you own a computer ? You can order screens online on many, many websites. I prefer the stainless steel screens myself.

    Don't know if its the same thing, but when i was a brand new smoker I tried using an actual nail as a screen. (Y'know, I thought that how the nail head has those little reinforcments under it that it would be a perfect screen.) The screen would have been a perfect screen, if it didnt end up giving me metal fume poisoning. Had a sore throat for about a month and a half that i could feel 24/7. Was annoying as hell and i've never tried using any random metal for anything since

    98% sure you don't want to be putting anything that goes into jewelry in your bowl. Think about the potential for solder, silver, other soft mailable metals that could melt or produce toxic vapors under a flame.

    Just use a stem or something. All natural. I'd be afraid to inhale whatever that thing is coated in. I'd rather find some old piece lying around, or any glass for that matter, smash it, and use an appropriately sized piece of it for the screen or something like that.

    They have pretty cool glass jack shaped screens, and I think they have daisy flower ones too...not cuz ur a chick but honestly they look sweet and I'd use them if I had them
     
    on amazon doe, you can get 100 brass screens for like 2 bucks, I prefer metal or steel screens but the brass ones I have work perfectly
