Looking for Advice on Edibles

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by ThunderGun10, Nov 24, 2014.

  1. Disclaimer: I typed this on my phone so I am sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes.

I have been an every day smoker for about 10 years. I don't smoke a lot at one time but usually take a few hits every night to unwind. I have been vaping and saving my vaped remains with the idea I would try baking with them.

A few days ago I made a firecracker because I am a noob and it seamed easier then brownies. I used a teaspoon worth of already vaped, high quality bud. I used a graham cracker and nutella. I wrapped it in tin foil and baked at 310 for 22 minutes.

I originally ate half of it but after about 1.5 hours and feeling pretty much nothing I ate the second half...BIG MISTAKE!

About 15 mins after eating the second half it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was completely barbequed. I get paranoid quite a bit when I smoke too much which is why I usually only take a few hits at a time. This was completely different. I was more paranoid then ever and had completely illogical thoughts going through my head. I constantly thought I was having a panic attack and heart attack. I had to keep telling myself that I wasn't dying...it only felt like it. My entire body was shaking/twitching and I couldnt even go to sleep because my mind was racing and my body was restless. I even convinced myself I was never touching the stuff again. After a few hour I eventually fell asleep and it was over.

I don't want to give up on edibles but I certainly don't want another experience like that. I know that eating the second half was a noob mistake but I figured I had done something wrong when cooking it.

Basically I am looking for some advice. Is it possible to eat pot and not have these "bad trip" side effects? Do I simply eat less? Or is this just how my body reacts to it and I am not made out to eat it? I was considering making the same thing but only eating a quarter of it at a time but I am concerned I will have another bad trip.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  2. as I tell all my fellow blades, you need to keep your mind busy.. and home-made edibles are hit-and-miss with potency until you get it down after so many tries.. experiment with less cannabis next time... also wait 2+ hours before consuming more.

  3. Is it possible to have a much less intense high then I explained above if I eat less? Or is it always that intense? I want to be able to relax and play some guitar or video games, not be comatose.

  4. Yes it just depends on dosage.....from not feeling it to Halusinations. In a way like beer or other drugs the more you take the more it affects you.

.5g is what people say to start with. And then adjust from there.(I personally like to start at 1g) For what you said in the previous post you sounded like you didnt use a scale. For safety's measure pick one up

Your two mistakes in my opinion were:

    1. Not weighing how much you were using so you can calibrate your dosage for next time.
    2. Using already-vaped weed (ABV) with much of its THC and other active ingredients already removed.

Next time, treat it like a science project (like, get a scale and measure things and stuff), use fresh herb, and follow a good tutorial like the BadKitty sticky thread.

And some people just don't like edibles. It is a different effect, lasts a lot longer, can get much more intense, and is easier to overdose. No shame in just sticking to vaping/suppositories if the edibles aren't agreeing with you! :)

ps There is nothing wrong with using ABV for edibles, but it will have a very different effect than vaping or eating fresh herb. I find ABV to be more narcotic/dreamy/sedative so it's nice at bedtime, but I wouldn't eat an ABV edible to party with my friends or go to a concert. I definitely would NOT use ABV for my first edibles experiments!
