Why We Should Be Excited in The UK

  1. The United States is very quickly approaching a multi-state crossroad when it comes to legalised and medicinal weed use. It's a snowball that won't stop. Florida marginally refused the chance, but almost half the states population agreed with the legalisation of medicinal use - a number that certainly wont dwindle. As more states legalise, the sheer profitability alone will be enough to drive more and more states into voting Yes.

Hop across the pond and we are looking in awe. "I say, imagine smoking weed without the paranoia of having LEGAL action taken against you to relieve pain where other over-the-counter drugs fail? Smashing" I'm sure us Brits would say.  However, that is also our downfall. America is a hugely patriotic and emotionally driven country. (Kind of our fault). They protest everything with their hearts and their voices. Try and find an American who wouldn't stand up for their beliefs - you will struggle. Over here we struggle to voice our disgust at David Cameron (who is easy to hate on being Prime Minister and all) and you can see the monumental task we have of even being realistically listened to when speaking of this class B drug. (Class B, seriously?)

We need to take inspiration from our fellow stoners in 'Murica. We need to rally our views and our beliefs and stop hiding behind closed doors and curtains hoping we don't get the 'knock'.  There are parties who promise to push for legalisation but in reality they wont get a seat on the grass outside of parliament let alone inside. BUT we can start to push for medicinal. Hundreds and hundreds of doctors in the UK agree that this green herb has great pain relief. That alone is something the UK government should take note of.

So how does all this doom and gloom sound exciting? The Taboo has been lifted. Simple as that. Weed is no longer a dirty underground term that delinquents of our society use. Some of the greatest men and women across the globe take or support the use and that is something we need to embrace. We are a positive community and the more we talk about it the sooner we can get start rolling that snowball up the hill.  It will take time of course it will, but we can't stand around clapping our hands and wishing it was us.

It is a time of celebration  in parts of America - and it is a time that us Brits take up our own voices. No matter how small we sound at first - a whisper can soon become a shout.
