Saying I'm starting my first grow is a bit generous. I am in the early stages of starting my first grow. Growing is something I've wanted to try since college, I even ordered seeds at one point, but customs snagged them (Chocolate Thai, and White Widow.) I've done research on preferred strains for several years, but since I don't own my own place I've got to go with a stealth grow. I'm in a career that requires a significant amount of trust to be built between myself and my clients, so even a light scent of MJ is a no go; which means it can't be a closet grow. I can't afford to have that sweet stink lodge itself in my clothes. I'm going with a PC grow for a few plants for personal use (NS, NT, NS.) And if it goes well eventually I'll move up to a stealth cabinet hydro grow. But for now I'm going to be going with auto flowering dwarf varieties to get my feet wet, and learn what my limitations are. I stayed in my college town after graduation and started working, but I accepted a job offer in a city several hours away and that took me away from my connection, yes I loaded up like crazy and moved it in the U-Haul, but I've been here 3 years and no one has a supplier that generous. I've been able to meet one person here that has been able to help me on occasion, but it's not a very solid conduit. Being closer to 40 than 20 makes me look/feel sketchy when I go somewhere I could find like minded individuals and ask for directions up (if present me asked younger me for those directions I'd ask the cop to leave me alone; so I understand.) So while it would be better to practice with bag seed, that's not going to be a possibility. Which strain/s should I start with? I would prefer something with a quick seed to smoke time (it's been since April) but I don't want to sacrifice too much yield, or potency. I'm partial to a sativa high, but I occasionally have sleeping problems so an indica would be nice to have as well. But I'm not well versed enough in the dwarves to know which of each family would be the best to roll with. I haven't grown anything since we sprouted beans in first grade. So keep that in mind when you send in those suggestions. In a state with no dispensaries I've never had the option to purchase "name brand" strains. Just, "How much do you want?" Eventually I'd like to breed the strains, and produce my own seeds, but that's a ways down the road. Luckily I'm off this whole week, so I've got plenty of time to get the rest of the prep done, and if I choose the right seed bank maybe get them in the ground before we roll into December, and make a new year's resolution to never be dry again! I found my CPU tower at goodwill today, (it came with a monitor so I can keep it in public) purchased several 25w CFL's, and I'm working on the soil medium, pots and fert tomorrow. Once I get the rest of everything bought I'll start adding pictures. I'm excited to get this up and running! I've gone through all the guides and FAQ's here and a few other forums, but if you've get personal tips or suggestions I'd love to hear them. And yes it's my first time posting here, but I'm a habitual lurker.
