Been having problems maintaining my internet connection. I know a little bit about computers and wireless, tried to research it too but I'm coming up with nothing related to my problem so I was hoping you guys could help.

I have no issues getting a connection as soon as I start up, but as I browse the Internet it inevitably stops loading things, but I am not disconnected. The wireless icon gets a caution logo and when I hover the mouse over it it says limited connection. I have figured out a temporary fix, but it confuses me even more: when I turn off my wireless card in the computer and turn it back on, it reconnects immediately with a perfect connection. However, it always goes back to a limited connection sooner or later.

My mom doesn't have this problem with her computer or phone, and I don't have any issues using the wifi on my phone. This has been going on for a long time now. Anyone have an idea what's going on?

  2. How many devices do you have connecting wirelessly to your modem? That could be one of the reasons, especially if you have a low mg package with your data service. You could do a Ping test and see if there's any packet loss. You should also go to www.speedtest.net to make sure you are getting the correct speeds you pay for. These are just a few troubleshooting steps off the top of my head. Besides that it may be an issue with your laptop itself.

If all else fails you should contact your internet service providers tech support and see if they can do anything on their end to help you out.

Wraaaap the night around me, blanket of black on my back, I feel safe in the darkness...

  3. This is a simple thing you probably already done but try turning off your modem for like 15 seconds and then turn it back on

  4. If your getting the warning logo on your wireless icon then its probably a problem with your network on your computer side since your mom can connect no problems or a hardware problem most likely youre network card.

First go to network and sharing center then adapter settings, right click your adapter, click properties, go to ipv4 double click and is it obtaining an ip address automatically or is it set manually

  5. Might also check for any bloatware installed and remove it.. What AV do you run? I've seen issues with Avast, AVG, Norton, and McAfee where they cause a similar issue. Download Malwarebytes and Ccleaner to help with the cleanup of any of those unneeded programs as well. And Malwarebytes can help detect any underlying infection.
