Feminism is a leftist political movement, like many others. "Feminism" is just the vehicle used to accumulate power, the same as "racism," "homophobia," "environmentalism," etc. The rank-and-file feminists are just the foot soldiers -- or as Lenin described it, the "useful idiots" -- that unknowingly give political power to the leaders. This isn't rocket science. But it is politics.
Please clarify what the differences are between the liberal/conservative dichotomy and social/commercial. Is social/commercial another term for public/private? Also I don't think the progressive stack is such a terrible idea. What's wrong with giving every group a chance to speak for their interest? It's not like doing so necessarily silences the straight white male, it simply asks them to share the podium from time to time.

I'm not sure how much there is to explain. It's a sliding political scale with socialism to the left and capitalism to the right. You could narrow it down to being public - private, I suppose. The progressive stack is a horrible idea. It is a literal oppression Olympics, discussion is no longer about the points made or the merit to them but who is the most oppressed, often offering no alternative. Its goal is to literally oppress people with the most 'privilege', a refutable and fallacious idea to begin with. Instead of getting shit done they argue about who has had the most hardship. The reason Occupy Wallstreet crashed and burned was because of it integrating with social justice instead of addressing political issues at hand. The definitions of "right" and "left" can vary quite a bit -- depending who's doing the defining and what THEIR ideology is. With that said: There aren't really any "right" movements. The left is all about change (i.e., increasing government power) and those who oppose it are "reactionaries," or those who wish to keep things as they are. Some call them "conservatives;" however that label has nothing to do with modern American "conservatives," who are just "me too!" socialists. Yes, thus the label "useful idiots."
I don't think there's a Marxist conspiracy to take away America from rich, straight, white men. Rich straight white men own FOX NEWS and MSNBC. They control the GOP and the DNC. They control the narrative from both ends of the spectrum and watch everyone play according to their rules. I honestly don't think most black, progressive and feminist activist are part of some Marxist conspiracy to start some communist dictatorship. Rich straight white men will continue to control the country and it doesn't matter if a handicap, gay, black woman becomes president in 2016. This tug-a-war is just part of the game.
Using "increasing government" as the main example to the change that progressives demand is a gross oversimplification. The progress that progressives want is to move away from traditional values that deny marginalized groups fair treatment. Fiscally there are also demands for social programs. Most don't want some North Korean police state . Why would someone be considered a useful idiot if they directly fight for their interest? A woman who fights against domestic violence, rape, abortion restrictions, etc is ultimately is helping herself.

Your SEAL friend doesn't create a global standard. Equality is a social construct. Men and women have different physical and biological capabilities. They are far from equal in that regard. Women have no place in infantry I believe for many reasons but that is for a different thread.
Just like some men aren't built for combat cuz they lack physical qualities that makes up SEALS and other special forces . That must be why the military is considering letting women into combat (SEALS , SWCC , RANGERS , etc) because just like a handful of strong able bodied men , there are a handful of women who are exactly the same and can lift a 250lb grown ass man like he's her 4 year old son Its pretty obvious that not all women can physically outperform men which is why I said only a handful would be able to make the cut but that doesn't take anything away from women as a whole .
