I remember sticking a whole nug in a bong bowl before. I was being lazy. Wow talk about burning harsh. It would just char the outside of the nug sending overheated smoke down the chamber. Then by the end of the hit the bong was full of harsh brown smoke. Not as enjoyable as a well packed bowl of finely ground herb. Smokes so smooth and yet so strong. Plus with cornering the bowl I'm not constantly packing tiny poppers and I can more effectively corner the bowl for maximum efficiency.
Don't look like mids, but you may be right. I have smoked good lookin bud that should have been fire but it was mids. Today, I look for frosty trichs on the bud to know it is fire.
