New Method Question

  1. Ok,

    Time to ask the experts.

There is a book collection, and a method, advertised heavilty for http://www.howtogrowweed420.com/

$57, it's an e-book collection.  Which I am not fond of, since you cant write in them, highlight, etc.  So that, and it's $57 I don't want to waste unless it's worth it.

The premiss is small buget, small footprint, yields like 2lbs but on a real regular basis;  it's like implied every (60) days.  From the endless spam I get, it seems like part of the secret is LED's, and his examples show grow rigs in everything from modified dressers, to empty computer towers.

The crappy part is I have a private backyard, and the roommates make such a political problem, that is not an option.

    Thoughts from the experts?

I wouldnt waste my money on a book, you can find all the info you need for free on the internet. Also that book is probably just a growers opinion on how to grow so it might not necessarily be best for you. I would recommend just researching online for free to find out whats best for you

Its a lot easier than you might think, you just have to be willing to put in the work, time, and money

  3. Read around on here a bit man. There's enough good stuff to fill quite a few books in here.

Not to mention the knowledge from some of the awesome growers we have around in here. Just hang out a bit and put that 57 bones towards equipment.

  4. Don't waste money on a book on grow methods from a grower.

All you get is what you get from any grower's forum, but in lesser quality...advice based on how THEY did it, how THEY feel is best, and MAYBE some scientific support for WHY (almost always some "logical" support for it).....but no two growers ever have the precise same conditions or issues to face.

That's all you get from the forums, too....bunches of growers, with different levels of knowledge and experience in different areas, under different conditions.

Parts of what they tell you will help you. Parts won't apply. Parts will destroy you, because the conditions they grow under are different, so following their advice will not help your conditions.

Take every bit of "this is how I do it" with a grain of salt.

Listen to every "why I do it this way", and consider if it applies to your situation, and conditions. And pick the method that makes most sense to you.

Take notes if they start showing you scientifically based "why this or that is necessary to give them"...but again, HOW to deliver what they need is something you have to decide for yourself, based on whatever factual knowledge you pick up, and based on possible methods suggested by others.

For instance...I'll slam the shit out of CFLs as an "only light source" or "primary light source". Pure opinion, even though there's science behind it I can lay out seven ways from Sunday. My reasons for slamming it might not apply to you, or you may have "no other choice" at the moment, despite understanding that the science backs my opinion, as a whole, but maybe it has to be ignored in this specific. For every one of us who slams the shit out of you for using CFLs, there will be 85 who have, at some point (and maybe still are) growing with relatively acceptable success, under a CFL only system.

They could do better...the science proves it. But they do well enough for their satisfaction, and it's what works in their conditions. If the results they have are acceptable to you, and your conditions turn out to be close enough to theirs <shrug>, you can think to yourself "Wow, this Indie-Kah dude's an ass", install your CFLs, and be happy with the result.

But at least now you know some of the science and figures behind it, so when you start changing your setup as time goes on, you know what you're looking for, what issues it might cause, and what issues it might solve. And it might turn out that even though MOST people would have certain issues caused by one method or action, YOU might not...your growing conditions are going to be different.

If you're growing in a closet in a manufactured home in Palmdale, California (middle of the Mojave desert), and I'm growing in the garage, in a large tent, in "I'm damned-near-in-fucking-Canuckistan" Washington State, obviously we have different problems to deal with, different conditions to fight and to take advantage of. What works for me may CAUSE problems for you.

But all I'll be able to tell you IS what works for me, or for other grower's I've worked with or observed, and the logical or science-supported "why" of certain things. They may not help you, some might make it harder for you, some might cause a pure disaster, and some will help so much you'll think I'm a fucking God as a result (until you go and try one of the ideas that fucks you).

Same for every other source of knowledge and advice.

Buy the books, you spend money to get ONE GUY's advice, based on HIS experience, logic, and knowledge, for HIS conditions. Hit the forums, you get the same from HUNDREDS of people, with varying levels of success, experience, knowledge, and logic that, taken together properly, will help you set up the best system you can, for YOUR conditions, budget, purposes, and desired results. For no more cost than a whole bunch of free reading and internet conversation.
