Testing PH of water with added molasses (Using PH vial tester)

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by dankuverymuch, Nov 17, 2014.

  1. Hey folks,

Recently added molasses to the list of things that I add to my nute mix (so far, the fox farm trio & molasses). I add a tablespoon to the mix and it drastically changes the color of the water to a light brown.

My question is this: Will a vial/dropper PH tester (I use one from general hydroponics) accurately predict the PH of the mix or would the results be discolored by the molasses in the water?

I know that I can always get a PH testing pen, but I'm trying not to blow the moolah on a good one.

    Thanks fellow grassheads

  2. Hate to tell you this, but you may be asking in the wrong group. Around these parts people don't use bottled nutes or give a crap about pH.

And the only time I use molasses is when I make an ACT, and the need for it there is debatable.

    Sent from somewhere over there.
    No, not there...over THERE.

Yes it will still accurately show the pH of the water/nutrients/molasses.
