Dragon Age Inquisition

Discussion in 'Gamer's Heartbeat' started by trixman22, Nov 16, 2014.

  1. Anyone excited about this game? I have been playing the 6 hour trial on Xbox one EA access and so far it seems pretty good. Im about 3 hours in and it is a huge world, Way better then DA2 so far. The war table seems like a cool feature although most of it seems locked to the trail.

Anyone else looking to grab this game?

I have never played any of the Dragon Age games, I had a coworker who was raving about it saying that for someone like myself I would probably love it. He was going on about how excited he was for Inquisition say I was like aight fuck it let's look into it & I have to so I am interested in trying it out.

  3. Looks awesome. Probably won't get it day one because im going with gta but definitely down the line.

  4.
I'd say you should play Origins first, it's a great game by itself and it really adds a lot of context, although it's not required for you to understand what's going on.

Skip Dragon Age 2, it kinda sucked

  5. Fuck Dragon Age, fuck Bioware. I won't even pirate this shit. Its literally gay.

  6. Haha I have heard number 2 isn't that great, I'll try out the first one.

  7. I will be getting this game. I love Origins. Never played the 2nd because everyone says it was shit.

  8. Yeah definitely play dragon age origins, it's an amazing rpg. The combat system can be a little wonky but it's got a great story and the character interaction is really well done, all the npc's feel alive and full of character.

  9. Homophobic much? Its not my cup of tea but I thought it was an interesting feature to have hetro or homo love interests. DA2 was shit but the first one was fun for how small it was. If your a PC gamer I can see how you dislike the game as the PC controls and camera work sucked.

From what I played of the trial it has a bit of a DA origins mixed with a little skyrim, with a splash of Dragons Dogma.

What are your reasons for hating it if different from what I listed?

It's not so much homophobia as it is that I have become unable to distinguish certain works from their creators. I like DA1, my problem is with Inquisition and the social justice agenda it pushes. I do not mind gay or transgender characters in my games, for example Nier and tones of other Japanese games handled this perfectly. I do however become irate when a social objective is forced on me to appease a certain demographic and push a liberal agenda for the sake of being progressive. This is not the first time Bioware has done this, I've also come to hate Borderlands for the same reason, though mostly because of Anthony Burch.

This is exactly the heavy handed forced inclusive social justice liberal pandering progressive bullshit I'm talking about. I hate this shit so fucking much. Its like Tumblr writes it.

LGBT characters are best done when their characters that just happen to be gay, and it doesn't define their whole being when you make character just to fill a quota of what you think should be in there, it's always sticks out in a bad way. Characterization need to flow naturally to it in order to work but most people who want 'muh minorities' start out with 'This character will be gay' and the rest after is forced around that, and it SHOWS in 95% of that sort of process, instead of being built around the world or the other characters or thematics of the game.

Yeah, they're a figment of fiction, but they're real somewhere. Who can really say for sure what anyone else's sexuality should be, especially in a game where it wouldn't make a damn difference? People forcing this bullshit with snowflake characters and head-cannons need to fuck off and let the people who know how to make good characters do their damn job.

    Also this, this, this.

  11. Definitely sounds like it's for me

  12. I agree with 90ish% of what your saying. I feel your argument would hold more weight if the game forced homosexual characters instead of it being the players choice. I always just thought they wanted to give you as many options as possible but what you say makes sense and im not a fan of that.

With all that said I still am having a blast playing DAI. Love being on the West Coast as I was able to start playing @ 9pm instead of 12am.

  13.
Since when does Bioware not mould the main character around the story and around the surrounding characters and their relationships with one another? You don't hit a button and deem the character gay or straight, it's solely through the relationships you build with the characters in the game that defines what sexuality you end up pursuing.

I'm not talking about the main character and if it were up to me I would avoid the relationships in Bioware games. They're horrible. Even the straight ones. They are completely forced on you.

Seriously, lets take time out of killing monsters to talk about social justice and transgender people. Or the fucking guy that tried to use magic on his token gay son to make the gay go away. The images I posted are forced on you.

  15.
Regardless what character it is, I'd say the relationships are far from horrible. Bloware's games (ex. ME 1, 2, 3, DA series) are created through the relationships that you make, as the main character in the game world. They've all received praise and are noteworthy for being some of the best story-driven and character-driven stories this generation of gaming has seen.

So far all you've raised awareness of is your disgruntled opinion of a game due to a developer's ability to implement social issues that are present in today's world. This is what makes a game, a movie, fuck even a book more relatable to the demographic the developer - or whomever is behind the implementation of said social issue - is looking to satisfy.

Then I for one dislike forced inclusion and appeasement to a demographic for the purpose of relatability over creative ingenuity. Its easy to spot and its tasteless, much like all political correctness.

I refuse to acknowledge 'noteworthy praise' from the payed shills that are gaming journalist. There is a difference between genuine social commentary and forcing an ideal. The latter isn't hard to recognize.

  17. Well this thread went off the rails...

Anyway, is it worth it at this point to play Origin first? I saw the PC version with the DLC on sale for $18.

  18. Idk man i played Origins when it came out and never beat it. The first 2 games arent open world btw. After having played many open world games since i played origins, it was difficult to get into Origins.

Sent from my XT1080 using Grasscity Forum mobile app

  19. I'll be picking it up in the next couple months, until then I'll play through Origins and probably get DA2 since its pretty cheap at this point.

  20. Anyone experiencing issues with the game? Thought about picking this up but I'm hesitant considering all the problems iv been seeing with every other new release.
