Hey Guys! Today I decided to go ahead and post something about my current grow, as I had been procrastinating on this for some time. This is my 4th attempt, I think, to get a grow going. Had a few problems with the first 3 grows - fungus gnats, soil issues, and unknown causes of stunted growth. So I guess I would still be considered a noobie, since I haven't yet done a completed and successful grow.

Actually my last grow did produce something, but what was produced was small, larfy popcorn 'buds', which were not really buds at all, just the beginnings of buds coated in trichromes. I sampled them, and they did give a bit of a buzz, but were far from dank, quality buds.

All my last attempts were tried in soil amended with various organic ingredients. This time I decided to give coco coir a try. I have heard a lot of good things about coco, and one thing I have heard is that chances of fungus gnat infestation is less with coco. So after my previous experiences, I just wanted to give it a try.

I am using about a 65/35 coco/perlite mix, growing in a pc server tower (mrgrowpro) under a total of 45 watts of LEDs (these lights came with the pc). Currently, my girls are at about 40 days from seed. I'm growing 2 Jack Herers.

Stealth is of utmost importance since I am living in a little flat out back of my landlord's place  . Particularly, smell is the biggie. The little carbon filter that came with the box is totally inadequate in my opinion. My last grow had my little flat stinking to high heaven, and my girlfriend (who doesn't know I'm growing) would always comment on how strong the smell of marijuana was in my place. So I figured I had to do something. I've tried to order ONO gel in the big buckets but for some reason can't find anyone who will ship them to Australia (although I have purchased the smaller jars).

Anyway, I'll be posting pics over the next couple of days.

Here's Big Jackie 'under bondage'. She's been LST'd and tied down - YEAH. She's grown a fair bit. Now she's about 17 days old from seed.

Little Jackie was grown out to the 5th node. She was just starting the 6th. I decided to top her, too. But I didn't LST her yet. I did this because I was planning to try mainlining her. After topping her down to the 3rd node, she's looking a bit sparse! Having 2nd thoughts - not sure if I've topped her too soon!

But here she is again after just 2 days. She's picking up well!

By the way, Little Jackie is just 1 day younger than Big Jackie.

  3. Here's where the Jackie Sisters live: a mrgrowpro server tower (26.5x18x8 in. or 67x45x20 cm)

  4. Hey dude nice setup you got there. Looks like we have the exact same server case although I didn't buy mine through mrgrowpro. It's absolutely massive :p If you need any further tips for the carbon filter I will help you anywhere I can this time. How long are you planning on vegging them? I know the server case is huge so we can veg for alot longer than other regular pcs...

    Subbed!   :smoking:

  5. Hey Snoop! I was originally planning to flip the girls next week, but I may let them veg for another 2 weeks as I want to top them once more before they go on 12/12. I'd like to get as many bud sites as possible considering it's a micro grow.  :yummy:

Well, I've made a mistake. Last night I decided to give Little Jackie some bokashi juice mixed with molasses as a little 'treat'. Unfortunately, I didn't dilute the bokashi juice as much as I should have. I gave her 100 mls of bokashi diluted in 1 litre of water. Probably should have been closer to 1 ml to 1 litre. So when I opened my growbox this morning, Little Jackie was looking really pitiful. She is totally drooped over and sad looking. Obviously badly burnt. I decided then to do a good drench of the coco medium. She is in a 3 litre smart pot. I gave her 3 litres of water. Let's see if she recovers. Lesson learned

  7. UPDATE: I decided to flip Big Jackie over to flower today. So estimated date of harvest is around 19th Jan. or so. She seems to be doing well so far. I'm still grieving the loss of Little Jackie though...

  10. Got a Tangilope and Sugar Mango Ryder (Auto) on the go.

I'm exactly the same as you; my first two grows failed on me and this is me kinda hoping (and praying, lol) that it finally grows something!!!

  12. You using bottled Nutes Kofi?

  13. Hey Vegi, yep, for this grow I am, since I wanted to give coco coir a try. So far, I really like coco. I am using B.A.C., which is a local organic grow nutrient. I just put my plant into flower, so I'll have to go out and grab a bottle of organic bloom nutrient in the next day or two. My next grow I'm going to do a 'super soil' grow - all organic - no bottled nutrients! I plan on using a mix of soil and coco. I'll post a pic of my lady maybe tomorrow - she's sleeping just now.

Notice 2 smart pots in the pc cabinet. I recently had to pull out the other plant which got badly burnt because I used too much bokashi juice in too little water! Lesson learned!

  16. Hey thanks, poke! Great to have an experienced brother in arms on board!

  17. Nice to see another Mr Grow Pro box on here!  Mine came in last week and I'm germing my first seeds now!

What size Smart Pots did you throw in there?  I was going to use 1 Gallon pots, but my local shop only had 2 Gallon'ers as the smallest, so I've ditched the plastic tub and made a little tinfoil tray for the bottom to collect any runoff and I can fit 2 in really perfectly!

Also, I really like your idea to put those clips on the side of your pots for an LST anchor! I'm definitely going to pick some of those up when I need them! :)

  18. Thanks for dropping by weirdbeard! If I remember correctly, I've got a 2 gal. and a 3 gal. smartpot squeezed into the mrgrowpro. And yeah, those clips work pretty well! Tell us about your setup.

  19. She is looking amazing already brother

  20. A small update on Big Jackie's progress:

She is growing nicely since I switched over to 12/12. I think the scrog screen will be going in soon and I am looking forward to seeing a nice canopy develop!
