O.k so my plant started getting pistells early august, but ever since early sept, my plant started stretching then stopped, which I read was normal, new pistells are still shooting up in new crevices, loads of cluster pistells also, but no buds, am I impatient?

just to add this is a window sill grow, I don't know the strain, it was given to me by my dealer who was leaving the country, this is also my first grow.

Also some of the leaves are brittle to touch, not only that but some of the tips have little brown edges and some of the lower and mid leaves are going brown all the way through then dropping off.

I have been reading up and assessed that this may be a nitro efficiency, so I need to flush with water, I have been giving it nutes every 4 days and neem oil every 4 days because I had a major bug problem before, which seems to have gone, but I still give it neem because I don't trust those bugs not to come back. I have also started giving about half a teaspoon of molasses mixed in with every feed because I read that the plants love it. I have now decided to water every 5 days, but I only give it around 600ml of water and mist them every time, I was giving them 1l of water every 3-4 days but felt like that was too much, the more I read, the more conflicting views there are.

Shall I just buy some bottled water and quit everything else for now? maybe monitor it for 2weeks?

  2. Pics please.

Browning, crispy tips like you describe could be nute burn or root bound.  If you're feeding regularly then probably not nitrogen deficiency, but it depends on what you're feeding them.

I had a friend grow outdoors for the first time this year, and he fed them general soluble nutrients.  Because his nutes were nitrogen-heavy compared to phosphorous, when it came to buds they were all tiny and full of leaves, more like flowers.  Could be something like that is going on, and then the plants are just at the end of their life now too.

    Hence, pictures would help.

O.k here are some pics of different browning leaves and my pistells with no buds, this does not have lights or fans on it, my first grow as I said.

As I said I feed neem oil and molasses and then for nutes I use a tomato feed, I read that it was o.k, I barely put any in, the bottle says 1/2 cap ful to every gallon, as im only using 600ml worth per feed, I don't even let the liquid cover the cap at the bottom and mix that with the molasses. ive come so far, I just want to know what to do since this is my first real one, did one ages ago which was a boy, but did not treat it nearly as nicely, giving it nutes, darkness etc.

Also because its a windowsill grow it doesn't get 12 hours darkness now, more like 10 hours light and 14 hours darkness.

  4. The flash is really bleaching out those pics of the buds.

That plant looks bug for the pot and amount of water you are talking about, also quite big a windowsill grow.  Possibly what you are seeing here is the end-stages of the plant coupled with being a little root-bound.  The upper parts of the plant look quite healthy.  The soil looks like it could do with a really decent watering.

The tomato feed is okay, but it's not that great if you use it all the time.  It's the kind of thing you use once or twice because you have nothing else, but if you need to use nutrients more often, you should get a 2- or 3-part system so you can reduce the nitrogen and increase the phosphorous.

You must be nearly at the end of this grow, and as good as you're going to get.  If you can get a clear picture of your flowers, without the flash ruining it, we can comment more about harvesting.  My gut reaction to the photos is a little more time, but we need to see more.

  5. Thanks for your advice! I just watered and misted it yesterday, lol.

There were two plants in there about a month ago, but had to get rid of 1 because it appeared to be a hermie.

I genuinely thought that I was over watering it, especially when I got rid of the hemie, the hermie was growing way quicker than this plant, when I got rid of it, I decided I probably should water it less now there is only one,  I will take heed and water itin another 3 days, it just had neem and molasses, this is a learning plant for me, but I would still love to see some buds, which at the moment I have given up on.

I will take better pictures tomorrow, its dark here, should be better in daylight.

will also look into this 2 part system, I'm in England and I assume we have different products.

My problem is that there are no buds that I can see, just tons of pistells.

  6. I'm in england too :)

I can clearly see that you have mass where your flowers are.  These are your buds.  they may not look like what you expect, but those swollen bunches of green and pistils, those are your buds.  Show them some appreciation!  They actually look way better than my friend's outdoor grow this year, where he used a regular MG-style soluble fertiliser every week.  His plants looked super healthy, but all leaves and the flowers/buds were even less than yours!  It was because of the nitrogen:phosphorours ratio of the miraclegrow.

If you want bigger buds, you're in the UK, the answer is simply more light.  Either a good sunny spot outside, or a tent and a proper 400w light.  You wont do much better than this on a UK windowsill.

There's a rule of thumb for watering, and that is "20% runoff".  That would mean if you watered 600ml, you would be looking to see about 100ml of runoff come out as extra water from the bottom.  (if the pot is very dry, this might happen immediately because it takes a moment for the bone-dry soil to absorb the water, so you have to be smart about it).

UK nutes, there are millions of hydro stores there days, on industrial estates and online.  I use BioBizz, although I wouldn't absolutely recommend it.  There are various options like Canna, Dutch Pro, you can't really get FF stuff in the UK although it's popular elsewhere.  You could look around at general nutrients in store for something appropriate.

Tomato feed is usually like 5:5:10 or 4:4:8, something like that.  You want a grow nute that's more like 10:5:5 (or similar ratio, more N, less P and K), then a bloom feed that's more like 4:10:6 (low N, high P, medium K).  It's easier to buy a specific grow/bloom nutrient set though.

  7. Looks like chlorine is bleaching the leafs. This happened when I used tap water. Tap water has a high ppm usually and not good. I would recommend purified reverse osmosis water or rain water.

  8. Purified say what? lol, well it's very rainy here, so i'll get a couple of containers out to catch some of that nice free rain water! I was going to use Evian, lol could be costly.

Thanks for the advice guys, I was just genuinely looking for buds or nugs, I didn't think the pistells were it! lol, guess I have a lot to learn! i'm more than willing.

I'm going to attempt some autos grown with cfls next year, this year was to see what exactly I could grow inside without too much fuss, the problem is I am obsessed with looking at the plant! like 10 times a day, very weird.

Will get clearer pics in daylight tomorrow.

  9. yep I did this at the beginning looking all the time. You stop eventually lol.

  10. Looks rootbound.

Cal/mag def is one of the first signs of rootbound plants. The tips of leaves being burnt is indicative of nute burn.

Other than that she seems to be flowering fine. She is at least 4-8 weeks from completion. She wont pack on weight without adequate light.

Pistils turn white indefinitely. Its the plants way of ensuring pollination.

Considering the late stage of your plants, it's probably age or root bound not chlorine, but if you want to worry about chlorine in the tap water, what you need to do is fill a jug with a litre of water and leave it to stand open for 24 hours, then use it for watering.  Don't mix your nutrients and leave them to stand for 24 hours, do that fresh but with old water.

The pistils are parts of the flower which try to collect pollen.  What buds are is lots and lots of flowers all swollen and on top of one another.  Usually the plant shows that it is ready when most of the pistils have gone orange and started to dry up, so there could be a little longer for this to mature yet, but it is getting to the end.  The problem in the UK now is keeping it warm, and getting enough light in the day and enough dark in the night.  There's not much growing time left now, so you'll probably end up harvesting them 'early', but they could fill out a little more yet.

  12. First sign of roobound plant?

Lower leaves fall off in droves as the plant "super crops" itself. Plant leaves begin to turn whitish yellow and the leaves become papery, like the ones in your pic. As the plant starves for nutes and oxygen, the lower half is consumed from the bottom up. A fix is simple.

A larger pot with fresh new soil. Shed bounce back in 7-10 days no problem. This late into flower id leave her be. Just let her finish up.

  13. id take his advice. Been growing way longer than me lol :p

  14. Eh, i had a rootbound plant last week :smoke:

    So im kinda cheatin haha

Well a few weeks ago. :p

  15. Shall I order a cfl from ebay? is it too late?

Is there any cal/mag products I can get now?

Guess i'mm off to investigate this root bound business, glad to see everyone saying its flowering o.k because In my opinion its slow and non existent! then again i'm a newbie so don't have the experience of others.

4-8 weeks seems long, but then again this has been growing since I think around the june mark, my dealer forgot to start growing it for me until I jogged his memory.

Your prob thinking why is your dealer helping you? well he's an old Jamaican guy and grows a bit for himself yearly, he knows a fair bit and I guilt tripped him into it, since he was my main supplier and he has now left the country forever! I refuse to buy at other peoples prices.

Heres an example my Jamaican dealer £10=2.9-3.6  grams of commercial weed. £5=1.2 grams,£10=1.1 grams high grade  other dealers £10=1.1=0.9 grams thai weed.

I refuse to smoke that at those prices, so decided to not smoke until I was lighting up my own crop! bit silly but idc.

  16. Calmag wont fix it, nothing will beyond trimming your root ball so that roots can bounce back and grow in that small pot, or transplanting to a larger pot so they have room to expand.

It presents as calmag deficiency at FIRST, then begins a whole series of issues to follow very soon. This happens because the plant roots have consumed their home. You leave a plant in soil long enough and it will consume and uptake ALL of the soil. Ive pulled severly rootbound plants out and found NO soil left at all in the pot, beyond a bit of dust between roots here and there....

Youre right, she's flowering super slow. It would be like feeding a human carrots only, keeping them stuck in baby clothes then wondering why at 12 years old the baby clothes have deformed the "baby".

Look, heres what youre probably dealing with. Heres my old rootbound plant
    [IMG]

See how the taproot turns around and grows upward in search of soil to consume? in search of air?

A cfl wont do much in terms of weight. Any hps would be better or even a cheap led if you can afford one.

Do you know something, I genuinely thought that my plant pot was massive! lol i'm so naïve.

Thank you for your explanation of root lock, with the pictures, you've explained it perfectly, even down the where your finger is pointing! this is really good advice for me, big learning curve.

I think that I will leave it in the pot it's in, I will add the rain water to it though or if not leave the water out overnight as advised.

  18. Depending where you are rain water can be good or bad. In los angeles for instance it will be acidic, so dont use it, but if youre somewhere nice, it will be distilled but full of microbes.

I agree, leave it in that pot. And no, thats not a large pot a all. Ive got a six month old marijuana tree in a pot twice that size. Literally would need an axe to cut it down LOL

Glad i brought some clarity, growing is much easier when youve got some friends to help you along. Dont ever hesitate to hit me up should you have any questions at all. None are too big or small. Im a pm away.

  19. You will regret offeing your help! i'll be In your pms all the time lol!

    but seriously thanks a lot.

  20. Just wanted to update this.

My plant has finally started getting buds! yay! I've also upped the watering to about 1 litre every 4 days, plus I spray the leaves with water every feed, I have also turned the heating on, so the room is not as cold.

The downside is, the little beetles that I thought I got rid of are back, when I watered before loads would come to the surface, when that stopped I thought they were gone, was digging around in the soil and saw a beetle thing, a small worm and 2 centipede like creatures that were golden in colour, I think I went wrong because I started to add molasses to the neem oil feed, I'm going to stop that and just do a neem oil feed and then a nute and molasses feed every 4 days, I hate bugs lol. Also on my dig around, I found that the roots are about 2-3 inches from the surface.
