A rig is a smoking piece/attachment made for smoking concentrates. They range from Bong-Sized 'dab' rigs, down to portable hand-sized concentrate vaporizers. there's a lot of info in the threads here, I myself no longer have my own rig (quit dabbing a long while ago) so I cannot be helpful as far as the best kind of rigs/vapes are the best. You normally need a torch to heat your nail, unless you just want to vape. I'm sure more blades will chime in with more info!
Rig/bong. Most rigs come with a glass nail and a dome which isn't meant to be permanent, recommend going with a titanium domeless as it will last a very long time and is nearly indestructible.
