  1. A couple days a go I started noticing strange mounds of what looks like bark on the stalks of all my plants and just recently all of the leaves near the tops of my plants are being eaten away. I have a terrible feeling in my gut that this could be some kind of boring pest because tonight I saw tiny little white wiggly things on most of my leaves. I have been spraying with neem oil diligently and got praying mantis egg cases but I am dreading that the damage has already been done if they are boring insects. I don't want to jump to any conclusions so I figured some other opinions would be helpful. I grow organically so if anyone has any other organic solutions to this problem I'd love to hear them. I don't know what more I can do at this point and it's breaking my heart watching my girls get eaten away :( here are some pictures of leaf damage, the mounds on the stalk, and the wiggly white things. cinnamon clove and coriander oil are organic and seem to work for some people. try that. sorry if thats all i could help with  though

  3. Just had a similar thing but they were only in the medium, fortunately my small white wiggly things turned out to be springtails.

No expert, but maybe fungus gnats or thrips perhaps?.....I thought that could be what I had initially, and read that if you slice up a potato, place the slices on top of your soil, then check them 12-24 hours later, if you see larvae eating away at the potato slices then it's a fungus gnat infestation....you can get products like azamax from your local hydro store that might do a better job of wiping them out than neem oil.

  4. Oops, just remembered the organic grow bit lol, and Azamax is far from organic..... :(

  5. Might be an idea to get some sticky traps hung up around the plant, and perhaps introduce predator mites to munch away on those plant destroying lil shits.

  6. Thanks so much for the advice. Definitely going to give the oil and potatoes a try. Much appreciated

  7. I've used apple cider vinigar a lil bit in the bottom of a small mouth bottle once they go in they don't come out also Walmart and most stores carry a little plastic apple about 5 bucks same idea has a small opening on top and a lil vial of apple cider mixed with something but they worked i have a few vegtable plants green bean and mini strawberries i put one trap on the soil in the pot and over night there were a few in there a week or so later i didn't see anymore this was a year a so ago but it also helps to take your hand move he top medium around a bit will bring eggs up to dry out also gently move the plant stems and leaves see if any fly off if so get some hanging sticky traps also a huge help
