As many of you may know, Sheldon Adelson billionaire CEO of the Las Vegas Sands corporation has contributed 5.5 million dollars to the opposition campaign of Florida's amendment 2. Recent reports show that it is currently failing in the polls and is unlikely to pass since it is a proposed constitutional amendment and needs at least 60% of the vote to win. Now in a more recent interview, Sheldon and his wife said that Florida is only a start, and that they plan on contributing to marijuana opposition campaigns in future elections so that they can do their part to stop marijuana from becoming more mainstream and accepted. What are your guys's thoughts on this? At least we have billionaire George Soros on our side.
One of many. I read an article yesterday about how many millions European medical companies are throwing in the anti MJ campaigns. Apparently they make most of the rx pills that are sold in the US and they don't want to lose that cash cow.
I believe it. Big pharma is so greedy and out for only themselves, they don't care if people take pills that will cause horrible side effects or be abused by millions because they still get tons of money off these pills. Couldn't agree more with what you said. And in an interview, Adelson said that his attack against Florida is personal because his son died of a drug overdose. But if you look at what his wife does for a living, she owns a bunch of addiction treatment centers. So in reality, he's likely just trying to protect his wife's special interests and money she makes, just like big pharma. Makes me sick 😡
