It's a good read, almost done the book. Ties in a lot of neuropsychological findings to support how the idea of "I" is an illusion and how consciousness being a singular unified experience is also an illusion. Good book on meditation with a strong scientific background without all that esoteric hippie bullshit that really puts me off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PTAc4WqZAg
Well at leaat you've found an in to this type of knowledge. The thing is that he comes from a western background and so he still looks pretty critically at the religious experience and kind of tries to get away from it. The eastern religions and spirituality never really became an obstacle for human progress as the western religions somehow became. A lot of knowledge is esoteric, but not something to be ignored on the basis of it being primitive or antithetical to what our human experience requires.
