2-27-2015 Really need to get something popped this weekend. Supposed to go in on a comparative grow of Pink Diesel x Amnesia autos, but having second thoughts as there seems to be so little information about it online. I guess that's why a good comparative grow is wanted. Couldn't find any images of that cross, but only one of Pink Diesel: So I'll decide later this morning. Those guys were talking starting end of March, but if I start one of these, it'll go in the block this afternoon. Maybe I'll consult the other guys first. LATER: It's down to either the Pink Diesel x Amnesia or a nice Diesel Ryder. Both are autos.Thinking I'll go with the Diesel for now and the other on 4/1 which will better synch me up with the other folks growing it. I don't want to be the first one posting in the thread they're starting up for it. I'm looking to pop a bean on the 1st of every month, so it's should get easier to run in the test strains, and I have a lot of single beanz I want to propagate just for the hell of it in case I really like it.
Cut a bud from pretty far down on the PC and once I'm away from the tent light I can definitely see the purple showing up in the leaves. It's perplexing, since that's still plenty of clear trichomes. As for the KC, one of the bottom clusters I was checking out is dank and sticky as all hell. Beautiful smell to her!
3-4-2015 Well, it took a couple of days+ for that Diesel Ryder to finally pop. By the time it's ready to go into DWC I'll hopefully have a plant harvested. I'm trying to go by the trichomes. Both big girls still have plenty of clear ones, but the PC is really starting to change colors and has a few very dark trichs on the top cola. I really don't know how much further to let them go. The KC is pretty cloudy, but there's a color shift beginning there as well. Guess I gotta consult #Ironhead. He says whenever you think a plant is ready to give it another week. So that's the big update. It's a couple of good plants. I've been managing my high off of production samples and water leaves and staying nicely baked. One bud I did dry out well I tried in the MFLB, and it kicked ass. So hopefully it isn't going to be much longer. This is a good time to harvest since we have several wet days ahead, and the humidity has been desert-low around here lately. 93% today!
3-4-2015 A little bud porn. Note the shift to dark purple. Still don't see enough milky trichomes on the calyx to suit me, but it's really starting to look pretty! View attachment 1711854 View attachment 1711853 View attachment 1711852 View attachment 1711851 Ironhead seems to think they're done, so I'll at least pull the tops tomorrow. Almost forgot! Here's the NL/BB auto:
3-5-2015 Today's the day! Going to take 'em down. I was thinking of doing a sequential harvest, but it's all pretty much as good as it's going to get right now, so it's going to be a busy day getting that all cut, trimmed and hung. Plan is to shift the Cheese clone to the flower tent, and maybe the two failed treated clones as well to get them finished enough to make something out of.'em. Only foreseeable problem is that where I hang them, it's only 42% humidity. May have to use the bathroom, which is around 72%, otherwise I'll need to keep a very close eye on things.
Hey Jerry! Happy harvest! I'm loving the super thick bulbous calyxes on the ones you're cropping, KC and PC right? Also the NLxBB auto is very impressive! I might be wrong but do I recall you topping that one? If you did that's even more impressive! Keep it up man! On the hanging, I would go with the 42 RH room over 72. 72 I would be worried about mold, but 42 you could probably raise to 50 ish RH without too much difficulty I think. Perhaps easier than trying to lower the 72 to around 55-60. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Hey Ding! I've been by your thread, but just haven't had much to contribute. Well, that 42% was annoyingly low. The Cheese #1 seemed to get pretty dry. The Chunk was about right. Anyway, I left a lot of stem on them, and they're all in the jars now, and I threw in the Bovedas this time too. I did put some of the extra stem in with the drier KC #!, just to make sure there's enough moisture to get on with. The clones are all shifted around. I put the Cheese and the failed treated clones in the flower tent, and the Chunk is on her own atm in the veg tent. The Diesel Ryder popped successfully, and will go into DWC in a couple of days. I'm keeping that Chunk clone strictly LED. The original plant under the mixed media lights stretched like crazy, but the clone under LED didn't. I'll post some pics of the new arrangements probably tomorrow. The NL/BB was topped twice. You can top autos, but you gotta be johnny on the spot. I hit the fifth node, then two nodes after that. Didn't come out super even, and I may spread 'em out a bit. I lollipopped her, but you can't tell, and I need to get in there ad get rid of some of that fluff. Gonna be some nice colas anyhow, but that plant isn't nearly as dank as I'd like yet. Next up in three weeks with be the Pink Diesel/Amnesia Auto in a comparative grow with a few others blades.
3-11-2015 Well, the harvest was ho-hum as far as quantity, but it's drying slowly in open jars and plastic bins and shifted around a bunch. I really don't like it getting too dry and sweat trying to get it back up to 62%. But they're getting there and starting to tighten up nicely. Removed the Boveda packs since this stuff is still so wet, at least in the stems. But it's starting to cure, and a lot of that green smell is beginning to go away. Gonna be some nice weed. As for weight, who the hell knows? It's still on a LOT of stem and I never weighed it. Hell, the way I've been nicking samples, it'd be impossible to tell. So much for fancy LST. Fuck a bunch of that in the future. So a little bit of pics from that. Next post will show the current girls. Some micro bud porn as a bonus. I do wish that thing had better depth of field.
3-11-2015 -2 So here's the current stuff. No particular order to any of this since I'm having an apathy attack at the moment. However, these are of the Northern Lights/Big Bud auto. The other girls:
Thanks! Be popping that Pink Diesel/Amnesia in a couple three weeks! Someone needs to get that thread started Chef talked about if they're gonna do it.
I think Chef and Loki have their beans ready but Telbel hasn't got hers yet. Four different grows of the same thing should prove to be quite interesting.....hell, I've seen 5 phenos from those seeds, can't wait to see what yous guys get!
As I posted on your thread, Jack at the vault will send some beans to anyone who'd like to get in on that comparative grow. Spread the word, Thunderbird.
A few of us who have Pink Diesel/Amnesia Auto beanz from The Vault are discussing a comparative grow & thread starting in a couple of weeks. Jack at The Vault thinks this is a good idea, and he invited anyone else who'd like to participate to let him know. So if anyone wants in, just reply to Jack on his status here: http://forum.grasscity.com/statuses/user/807487-jack-the-vault/?status_id=401476 I expect there would be a few free beans in it! Check back here for a link to the thread when it's finally created.
Hey jerry! Was there a thread where you guys were discussing this comparison grow? I've already got the bean on the way from Jack and I'm pretty excited to work with some other blades to see what we can accomplish with these autos! Peace & Love PyspherE
3-15-2015 An update and some bud porn. So most of the harvest has dried to about where I want it. and is in the jars, and getting burped often and tested with a couple different hygrometers to make sure I'm not tripping on the moisture. Eagerly awaiting this stuff to cure out. About the time I'm ready to get into smoking that in a few weeks, I'm going to process all that trim I have in the freezer and make some butter up for baking. I'm in the mood for some space cake. Epic fail!!! I've heard that the "Joint Doctor" had some crappy genetics. I tried popping a Diesel Ryder and the only thing I did differently was to put it in a glass of water rather than just into the wet rock wool. Fucker took three days to pop, and that's slow. I put it in the red cup like I always do, and it shot up nicely, put out a pair of true leaves - And quit. Never heard of a bean doing this. I would have been on at least the second or third node by now with any other bean. So I had to scramble to pop something else, and my timing has gotten messed up a little I think. I was thinking Ogre Fem, but that's a JD bean too, so fuck that. Decided to go with a Delicious Seeds Cheese Candy Auto. This should be a fairly fast plant if all the propaganda is correct. Early April I'll get around to the Pink Diesel/Amnesia. Not waiting for 4/20 to start one. It looks as if the NL/BB is going to run for a quite a while yet. Beginning to turn into a really beautiful plant, and it has that tube shaped structure that's really nice. It's supposed to be a purple bud finisher, and I'm getting some very nice purple in the leaves at this point. Had a problem with a slightly too high ppm on my nutes, and I think it was beginning to affect her. I broke out that flushing stuff that came with my first Flora Series nute kit, and gave her a couple hours of a light flush. Then back into better balanced nutes. Found a blog from a couple of years ago that had this strain flowering for 110+ days. Hmmmm. Some pics of her anyhow: The Cheese #1 clone that was kind of stunted is really getting frosty, but still has a lot of white pistils. I really need to check these girls more often. Buds are still scrawny but beginning to pick up some noticeable weight. So she's gonna run for a while longer. The treated clones are just sitting there taking up space. Still planning on processing them when they're dried and cured, so they're chugging along flowering too. The Pineapple Chunk clone in the LED only tent is getting close too, with a lot of weight in the colas. And that's that. I seriously considered going with the Pink Diesel/Amnesia or another Aurora Indica, but will hold off to better sync up with the others in that comparative grow. Hence the Cheese Candy. After the PD/A, I'm going to pop a couple of those regular Nitro Express probably.
Well, Chef hasn't started it yet. Very tempted to start it myself, but I don't want to have to manage it. All I intend to do is cut and paste anything I post here about that strain once I start growing it. But I'll promote the link in here when he finally gets on the stick. I think he said he was going to put like 40 of them in an outdoor grow, and I'm growing one at a time or maybe two since I have two different setups, so he can have the honor. Besides, he kind of was in on the original idea. I just mentioned it to Jack, and he offered to give some freebies to make it more interesting. I hope we get a few more people get involved! I'll mention it in Jack's status as well.
