The wolf of wall street

  1. I had no idea that was a stoner movie. Ok , maybe not with pot. It's unmentionables. But there is a scene in that movie where leo Di Caprio gets all f-ed up on the unmentionables and he has to crawl to his car. I never laughed so hard in my life. He is such a talented actor. And it's based on a true story.

  2. I sobered up half way through the film (I saw it at the cinema), i thought it was pretty crap to be honest but like I say. . I sobered up. Would definitely watch it again but id have to be really stoned all the way through!

  3. I watched it 100% stoned and 100% sober, loved it both times. movie is long as fuck! haha :)

  4. For what it was, I thought it could have been shorter. There were a lot of really funny parts, and Leo did an amazing job in it.

Scorsese did a great job with this flick and DiCaprio gave a stellar performance. Not to mention to dialogue was effin' hilarious. It was like a 3 hour film but I was glued to the screen for the entire duration. What did you not like about it, if you don't mind me asking?

  6. I think it was the concept in general or maybe just they way it made me feel. Don't get me wrong the acting and style was phenomenal, but it think they needed to weigh the cons more against the pros of the people who essentially run wall street (let's face it they're all scam artists). I feel they focused too heavily on the greed and not enough on the effects of what living that kind of life style would be. Yeah I know he was supremely fucked over at the end and bought about his own demise. But the only thing that really stuck in my mind was the lavish parties, excessive drug, prostitutes and hatred and not what the repercussions were. But like I said, I've only seen it once so don't take this too seriously.

One thing that really annoyed me was the lack of back story for the characters. I didn't feel any sort of personal connection to any if them at all. . It was very voyeuristic and cold.

But then again, maybe the point was to make me feel like that . . In which case it was a great success.

I agree with you on the back story bit. They had 3 hours to work with, they could have a least had some in-depth character arcs going on. I mean, cutting out a party scene or two in place of some personal character development would not have killed the movie. As for the "feel" of the movie I think you nailed it pretty well with the voyeuristic and cold style. It definitely seemed like they were trying to cultivate that sort of atmosphere.
