Some say we are here to repopulate or we were created by a supreme being to live out the short life span that we possess as if it's a gift and were blessed to be "alive" technically if you really think deep enough what is being alive like? Are we currently alive right now? Is there some astral plane that on a moment of death we are givin a rebirth to another dimension or are we for all eternity enslaved in hell by a so called demon that is portrayed to be the evil? Or if you have lived a good life you will spend all eternity praising a god ? To pray every day and worship.. Like some occult... You can not sin? What is sin.... Too lust? Too murder? Too lie....? I got no idea what life is. But it seems pretty meaningless to me. If there is no afterlife then life is meaningless. If there is an afterlife then life is meaningless. What seems most likely to me is that we are at an unfortunate evolutionary stage between ignorance and enlightenment. One is completely absorbed in ones own biology, with no knowledge or understanding mortality at all. The other is a state beyond biology, with no physical needs. Just pure consciousness. Much like Q from Star Trek I suppose. Our descendants will eventually get there, but for us...we are fucked.
Everything ever has just been particles moving around. The movement of these particles are caused by energy. Anything beyond this doesn't really have objective meaning behind it. So what the fuck is life? The answer: it doesn't matter. Chill out, mate.
I'm at odds with your description of life. I mean, I've come to much the same conclusions -- that the bigger picture is a dismal one, that the larger population are but sheep, and that I'm powerless in the grand scheme of things -- but I just can't bring myself to settle with it as absolute truth. And I think it's that which fuels me. It's a pretty dreary existence otherwise. With that in mind, knowing that none of it matters, you can be liberated to a live a life that you want to live. Do the things that you want to do and that make you happy, because it doesn't fucking matter anyway.

And you define its merit or perceived purpose based on whatever you are able to cling to before the tides of change, winds of chance, or hands of death shake the foundation or stability of your delusions and either force you to change, or into the ground. Life for humans, in my opinion, is 90% masturbation any way you cut it. Whatever gets you off is what you're going to say matters, and just like with sports, countries, porn, or anything else, people get off to something different. Trying to come to consensus on one definition for something with a billion interpretations, is just a very dim way to try and sum up the complete and total mindfuck of existence in a way that minimizes the innate complexity of every facet regarding the human condition and the perception of reality.
