I thought I was having major PH issues, tried the strips and it was worse than I thought, PH of about 8! Then went and bought a $40 ph pen. Measured my tap and runoff under a plant. PH was fine, just the plant yellowed on me... I did have some young plants start to look weird, like HappyFarmer, I potted up and raised my light, girls looked much much happier http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1316222-4x4-led-wild-thai-seed-second-grow.html#entry20304616
I was hoping to wait to pot up until I could positively sex two or three ladies. Their next pots are three 5 gallon rectangular waste baskets with holes drilled for drainage. I only have room to flower three, so I was hoping to be able to wait until I could sex them. Though I was told these were fem'd seeds, I'm weary picking the three to pot up so early. But it would be beneficial for training to pick the three early. Options... Feeding wise, what have you used to adjust your pH?
First before we add anything lets figure out if is ph...and if so...is it high or low... There are options...what nutes are u using? Refresh my memory i have been farming
my RO water comes Ph'd to 7(according to my cheap meter). I'm in Foxfarms Ocean Forest and I'm using FF Grow Big veg nute. When I stick the meter into a pot, it reads 7.
Hmm well honestly if your ph is 7 it should be all right imo. I have had plants that liked 6.2 or so in soil...but i have found as long as your are in the 6-7.range in soil u should be good. Maybe its just nitro def..?!?! Or overwatering? .tbh they look pretty healthy imo. Dont fix it if aint broken.
Could be heat, humidity, or fan blowing right on the leaves. I agree the plants look pretty good. Honestly I'm not sure you have a PH problem. Only thing I add is water and sometimes tea with worm poo, alfalfa, and kelp. That does bring down the ph of the water. Generally speaking I think using soil leaves you with less PH issues rather than running a science lab full of chemicals. http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1316222-4x4-led-wild-thai-seed-second-grow.html#entry20304616
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the fan/wind is my problem and not my pH. Everything is looking pretty good! I'm hoping to see some preflowers sooner rather than later so I can pot up 3 ladies! Do you guys think I have the space or the light to flower three small plants? I want to flip to 12/12 before they hit 12" tall. Forum1414869374.162682.jpg]
So I had one plant that was blowing the rest out if the water. It's like, 3-4" taller than the shortest plant. The one in the back right of the lot. So I thought I'd start some training to keep them as level as I can to make it easier for when I throw the net over them. It went really well until I tried to tame the top two tops. In hindsight I think they're too young to worry about training and I should've left them alone. But here's the damage. I've seen duct tape save a limb before! You can probably tell it's the one on the right. It didn't fully break off, so hopefully it's savable! But I think the rest of the training looks good! I can't wait to see it all start shooting up! Peace :smokin:
Good morning, plants. I did some more LSTing of the rest of the plants this morning. The one I did the other day hasn't turned all the way back up yet, but that's the one I broke too. It ended up being a loss. It was all soft and dead this morning and I'd rather the plant not have to worry about repairing it, so I snipped it. And now it looks like this. I'm just gonna see what happens with the oddball node. Here's some more shots of some of the training I did today. I'm hoping for preflowers in 1-2 weeks. Now that I've got them trained down, I am going to give them what may be their last Veg nute feeding on Wednesday then giving a good soaking on Friday before I leave for a four day weekend. I just gotta leave then alone and let them grow until I see preflowers! Peace :smokin:
Good mornin'! Just fed the plants. They each got 3/4 of a liter of molasses RO water with a teaspoon of FF Grow Big. I did some sex searching and couldn't find any definite signs of sex on any of them. Two are closer than the others. Here's a shot from when I was trying to sex them. And I wanted to do something about this rogue node that's growing above everything else. I didn't want to try and tie it down as I'm sure I'd break it. So I decided to lay the net down. I'm just going to keep them under it until I cab sex 2 or 3 as female, pot them up, let them fill the screen and flip to 12/12!! Hopefully next week. Feel free to chime in. It's kinda crickets in here. Peace :smokin:
A temporary vegging scrog? Interesting http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1341205-solar-spec-1040-white-led-vs-mars-ii-2100.html#entry20859361
Meh... I took it out. I like to take them out to inspect and train them too much. I just patiently trained the lonely node down with the padded wire. I am going to put it back in to control the flower stretch once I have my confirmed females and flip to 12/12. Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum
Good morning, blades! Today's update is brought to you by a still noob grower. So, I had one pot that ended up not getting as much soil as the others when I potted up to the 1 galloners. Since I'm leaving for a possible 4 day weekend and don't want my plants drying out too much, I wanted to add soil to the bottom of this problem pot. This was probably a newb move, but it allowed me take a peek at the roots I've got. I didn't take a picture, but they looked healthy, white, and thick. I am concerned though. I don't want them to become root bound. I am going to pot them up when I get back whether they've sex'd themselves or not. I have my favorites. Here's a shot before I leave for the weekend. Oh, and I added four 40watt warm CFLs! It's no lie that LEDs don't have great penetration. Besides, it's easier on the eyes, and I just had to turn the exhaust fan up a tad and my temps stay the same. Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum
Your plants are so short and compact, I don't think you need to worry about penetration. Yeah red LEDs suck for photos, little white definitely helps . http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1341205-solar-spec-1040-white-led-vs-mars-ii-2100.html#entry20859361
I came home early and I'm glad I did! They were on the verge of being too dry. No, they were too dry and on the verge of being way too dry. I watered each plant twice because it looked like the first one just ran through. I didn't have time to take each one out and inspect for preflowers tonight, I just watered them, but that's the plan first thing at lights on. Look for a better update in the morning!
I'm so glad I came home when I did! I went through each plant peeking in all the nooks and crannies and spotted this. So he got the chop. Then I potted up two confirmed females and another that's starting to get sticky, but I couldn't find the tell tale hairs. Here's a root shot! And a shot of them all tucked into the cabinet. I'll update more later. Peace :smokin:
Cheers, growmies! Here are a few more pics of these beautiful plants! Left to right in just the CFL light. They're in 5.5 gallon trash cans with 6 1" holes drilled in the bottom of each. I needed something for this and it hit me walking through Walmart. And sure enough three of them for in the tub! I can otherwise only fit 2 5 gallon buckets. I think I'm going to let them veg a bit longer. I'm going to see what the screen looks like tomorrow and let it fill 60-75% of the screen and flip. Does that sound right? I still feel like such a newb. Peace :smokin:
