I live in Denver, also a medical patient, but I'm also a picky fucker so you can get it cheaper, but I'm more of a quality over quantity kind of guy; Typically pay ~30-35 for trim run shatter, 40-50 for nug run, and 50-60 for live resin.

    Edit:
All the oil I buy is made from instrument grade n-butane, I don't buy stuff made from cans or mixed gas.

  3. Live resin is expensive however like he said....he is a picky fucker as I am...it is worth every penny as the favors and smells are incredible!

  4. Being a novice to oil, what is live resin?

  5. Technically speaking live resin is oil made from plants that were cryogenically (or some other form of flash freezing) frozen while the plants were still live in the soil, and the hash is made within 48 hours from the freezing. The advantages are that since the plant is still alive and actively producing resin you get the full terpene profile from the plant.

Terpenes are what give cannabis (and pretty much everything else) flavor and smell, and if you go through old school books about the essential oil industry they discuss that in many plant products as many as 50% of the terpenes are lost as the plant dries and water soluble terpenes evaporate, as well as very volatile terpenes just evaporating them on their own. So if you produce oil from the live plant it tastes much stronger. Because of the high terpene content live resin is also usually pretty sappy, since most all terpenes are liquids at room temperature.

Because it takes so much trouble to make live resin is usually pretty expensive; but because all of this people also frequently just freeze their plants immediately after harvest and blast them within a week and still call it live resin, so it's important to trust your extract company when you're paying such a high premium.

  6. Would paying 200 for this be reasonable?

  7. To be honest that seems pretty crazy, vape pens are neat, but they are mostly hype IMHO, never had a pre-loaded vape pen that I've preferred to just buying oil comparatively. Given a ~1.5ml of volume there couldn't be much more than a gram in there, a gram and a gram and a half at absolute maximum; and that's probably being generous, that seems like a pretty steep premium to me, I'll let you be the judge of being "worth it" or not.
