Stopped smoking a couple days ago...no appetite

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by BongBreaker6, Oct 25, 2014.

  1. So I have been a daily smoker for over a decade and recently had to stop because I'm currently looking for a job and I'm being looked at by several companies that say they drug test.  I've never been drug tested before, but it seems like it's getting more common for new employees based on my searches.  REALLY stupid if you ask me, but that's beside the point...I can be a raging alcoholic and get a job with a drug test, but if I take a single puff in Colorado where it's legal and then fly home I can be rejected for a positive test.

That said, since I stopped smoking, I simply have no appetite.  I had to force myself to eat dinner last night.  Has anyone else stopped smoking and just not been able to get themselves to eat?

Also, since I stopped, I have started smoking Black and Milds and those seem to get me really high when I smoke them...anyone else have this experience?

  2. Well a few things the lack of appetite is common esp if food was a big part of being high. I often would smoke a bowl then eat to enjoy the food more. I'm sure loss of appetite isn't the only problem. Maybe loss of ability to sleep? My point is marijuana is a drug. Your body is so used to the side effects of the drug, that it became a normal feeling almost. In a matter of time your body will get used to not being on the drug and the loss of appetite, lack of sleep, irritation by others, whatever you may be experiencing will go away. About the black and milds. If you didn't smoke much besides marijuana then at first tobbaco may give you a little high. I don't know how your feeling "really" high off a black and mild.

  3. I was a daily smoker for about 4 years then took a tolerance break and the second day into the break I had no appetite, I threw up and had no energy, and just felt shitty.

Contrary to popular belief, there are side effects to quitting. Not as intense as a withdrawal, but I guess you can call it that. With some of my friends these symptoms last a week, but for me, it's gone within 2-3 days.

  4. It's because you're too used to eating with the munchies, your stomach doesn't think it's hungry because you're not high.

  5. I feel ya man. Im the same way but im still smoking....My issue is every single morning im starving. it gets really bad. but i have a hard time swallowing my food. your hungry, your stomach is going nuts but your esophagus is like no dude, ill choke you first. So i would have to wash it down with milk or something. I have to wake n bake every morning if i want to eat right away. it sucks. Not every morning i want to wake n bake. we all know that leaves you in zombie mode.

It gets bad. even when i grocery shop sober. its some bullshit, Im so sick and tired of seeing the same shit, its just not appealing to me anymore so its hard to buy food. So i need to get fucking stoned before i do the serious grocery shopping. walk out with 200 dollars worth of food, instead of a Stoufers Lasagna Family pack. lol

  6.

Yeah, I feel you man.  I also have that feeling, but I simply haven't eaten in the morning in a couple years so my body got used to wake and bake, and then wait 6-7 hours to eat.  Now that I'm not toking, I have no munchies and even the food I eat takes a lot of effort to eat.

For me, I don't get into Zombie Mode from wake and bake, it actually does the opposite for me.  Weed actually gives me more energy and makes me more able to deal with all the BS in daily life.  I constantly find issues with all the absurdities of life and weed helps me deal with those and simply makes everything more enjoyable.  I'm kinda like the Jon Stewart character in Half Baked (the enhancement smoker) except that I'm a guy that nobody would ever think is a stoner.

The Black and Milds get me really "high" for at least 30-45 minutes after I take 5-6 puffs.  But it's not the mental high that I get from pot, but more of a physical one.

  7. Plenty of exercise and water will help you out dude!

  8. The withdrawal will pass. When the brain comes to expect a chemical ( addiction) and you take it away (withdrawal) there is a reaction.

With caffeine its headaches, weed is insomnia, aggression, loss of appatite, and mood swings.

    Give it time.

  9. Still have no appetite, have lost about 8 pounds since stopping my use (and I'm not exactly a guy who needs to lose weight, I'm about 6' tall and now down to under 145) but I think that may be a good thing since I may be drug tested soon.  I have an interview tomorrow with a company that says they test, though the roles I'm being considered for are not the kinds of roles typically tested for (Vice President of Bank's Corporate HQ) so I am concerned but hopeful.  I tested my body fat and I'm at 7.5%, so hopefully that means my THC levels will fall more quickly than is typical.

The Black and Milds are still getting me really buzzed, but I certainly miss the herb bigtime.
