  1. OK this is my first time growing hydroponically and ive heard all kinds of ppm readings , what i need to know is i am using faucet water my ph reading before treatment is 7.1 ppm reading is 771 before i add nutes after adding nutes ppm goes to 792 after ph down ph goes to 5.9 ,what should my ppm be is it a thousand or am i fine my ladies don't seem to be suffering in fact they are doing damn good growing at least an inch and a half they've grown at least three inches since the 13 of October any and all help would be valued thank you

  2. 771 from tap is pretty high. You should consider some kind of filtration system.

  3. I though my tap water was bad at 450... After nutes I sit around 750-800.

  4. Have you calibrated it ever?

  5. ive rechecked water and i apologize my reading untreated is 441 after addind nutes and ph down it sits at 792 ph is at 5.8 but what should my ppm be for tap water after adding nutes

  6. mrmilehigh its brand new only been using it for two weeks today so i believe it is already calibrated

  7. Bingo.

Did you order it online? They don't calibrate those things before shipping.

You need a calibration fluid for your meter.

  8. i got it out of a hydro store it was working fine but now that thing is telling me that my water is only at 109 ppm so going to get it calibrated today i think i might have dropped it or something

  9. I had the same out of my tap. Plants did fine for a few days then gradually got worse. Ended up investing $200 in an ro filter and now my water starts at about 80-100 ppm and hangs around 850-950. I also didn't use the proper ph (as I was used to outdoor and in my ignorance figured a ph of 7 would be fine)

If you don't have a ton of plants filtered water is a good short term solution at about 2-300 ppm) and distilled water is even better at around 50-100 ppm
(After spending $4 a day on water for a week we determined that the ro filter more than pays for itself after one 10
    Week grow)

    ✌️

  10. Oh.. And make sure it's not reading 109 ppm with a x10 on the bottom 😁. I oversaw that at first.

I grow hydro and have good water 30-40 PPM

I make soup like the directions test the mixed jug, then dump it in.. Never test my plants buckets. It causes some people to chaise their tails. Just top off with perfect soup.

You get the water issue sorted and it will be smooth sailing from there. :D

  12. ok well i dropped $$$$ to get the tds 3 tested my water its at 390 ppm after adding nute its at 792 ppm ph is 5.6 after first flood its at 5.9 looking over my records in five days the ppm drops to 775  in four days my ph goes to 6.4 should this be a concern ...

  13. From my limited experience growing hydro indoors that is to be expected. Gotta have that ph down on deck

  14. Sounds like your solution is about just the right strength for your plants if it's going down by less than 20 ppm. A lot of people say to let your pH swing gradually over the week to get the biggest uptake of nutrients.

  15. well i found out that after five weeks so far i am doing something right ,I havent figured out how to post picks of my ladies but several are 22 and 23.5" high no yellow deep green fan leaves looks good ..to me also got a blue lab tds meter ppm are now reading 1520 after nutes ,after system has system has gone thru 24 hr cycle i change res tomarrow adding new nute strength im also using greenstone nutes and i actually like it better than mills for the type of water i have the nute compensate for it and for now that is working for me i do how ever have an ro system just not installed when i aquired it it was missing some key pieces lol like the drain an cold water connection

  16. something i have discovered with tds meters you get what you pay for the first one i had read my res all wrong the new one is telling me the temp of water the actual ppm i prolly got hosed on the price but @#$%#@ it im good now so far
