New Quartz Nail Doesnt fit, help?

  1. I'm definitely not new to dabbing, but I'm new to buying my own oil setup. I went into a local glass shop and got this domeless quartz nail for my honeycomb perc bong. The cashier really seemed nice and like he knew his stuff so I trusted him fully when he told me which nails were the 18mm ones. I don't wanna blame the cashier for my purchase because I thought it was the correct size. However the quartz nail didn't come close to fitting my bong's downstem joint. Really confused at this point because I've never heard anyone mention the NEED for some adapter joint that's the right size.

  2. This whole situation has just been frustrating because I wasn't even able to find a damn NOZZLE at the store for my little propane tank and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a cooking torch since they need refilling often. Some one please shed some light on what's the problem here? The guy obviously knew what he was talking about but I feel like there was just some mistake I made with what I need for my setup. please help

  3. Sounds like you didn't tell him wether or not you needed a male or female joint for you nail.

Guessing he gave you a female joint nail and you also have a female on you bong.

Be easier to help with pictures

  4. Yeah I felt quite silly for not even explaining the situation to him. But the guy had a reputation for not liking people that need help even though he seemed nothing but nice to me, but still I just went in to get what I wanted and left. Think I'll call him. I really don't feel like taking the time to figure out the image files but it says grasscity won't allow my file types. Yes I have a female joint, my bong is a standard Black Leaf double honeycomb perc. The quartz nail is too small to even go in the downstem but it fits well in my 14.5mm downstem bong. Very confusing because he told me it was 18mm

  5. Just bring it back. Have you used it?

It sounds like its a 14 mm nail, and in that case he lied to you. Don't make a stink about it, just ask for a different nail. Should be no issue considering you already paid for an 18mm.

But i'm really not sure what the problem is, was it that the joints have the same gender (lol) or just the sizing?

  6. Got ya, yeah wrong size nail, but if it fits your 14mm why not just use that?

You don't want a big piece with a bunch of diffusion. actually the exact opposite is better for flavor.

  7. To be honest I'm not positive, but pretty sure that they're opposite gender joints. But I've been hearing that adapters are important for the glass anyways, or would it not be a problem since I'll have a quartz nail. at least the guy told us that we could come back and exchange it if it was the wrong size.

  8. That's what I did when I got home lol but it's a nasty china glass bong with nothing special. It was just a shitty conclusion to the day after it was impossible to find a propane torch nozzle anywhere, then the nail ends up being the wrong size. Fun stuff

  9. I'm sure you tried all of the hardware stores already but maybe even auto shops might have a torch nozzle. I bought my nozzle at a local auto body shop. It's one of the only all metal ones i've ever even seen. It stays at my friends house though, they have 9 people in the house so the torch is going on and off constantly, they need durability. Maybe even craft shops might have one. Hardware stores are your best bet though of course.

  10. Yeah I tried the few hardware stores in town, very surprised they didn't have any. I just decided to order a quality nozzle online.
