I've been suffering from generalized anxiety disorder with a little bit of OCD for the last two years and want to try using a high CBD strain. Often "regular" strains with more THC can worsen my anxiety, especially if it is a sativa, in which case I have had a few horrible, uncomfortable mental experiences. I've been able to experience more relief with indica strains in the past, however I can never seem to become completely relaxed with an indica either. I would like to try a higher CBD strain to see if it could work as a medicine for me. I've heard that high-CBD low-THC trains give much less of a mental "high" and can give a relaxing, therapeutic effect, which would be perfect for me. My question is, if I were to try a high CBD strain, does indica vs. sativa matter?

Also I welcome any other recommendations regarding treating anxiety with cannabis. :)

  2. Hi sbamantha' I came across your post and discovered that your in the exact same situation as me. My question is, whether or not you overcame the problem and with what strain? Cheers

  3. Just to throw this out there: a higher CBD content simply gives you a new, different dimension to the effect of the medicine. I grew out several different combined high-CBD/high-THC hybrids in my garden outside last season and I'm running several more this year. All that I notice as typical of indica versus sativa is growth pattern; most of the rest of the differences in effect and so on are more decided by terpenes and the overall profile of a strain.

For instance, the only strain in my garden last year that /wasn't/ a high-CBD hybrid was a landrace sativa with a decidedly purple character, sort of a landrace purple haze. Guess what? Thanks to the linalool and who knows how many other terpenes making up its sweet, woody taste, it's more relaxing and sedative than all my strains but my highest CBD indica.

Just wanted to hash that out to illustrate that indica and sativa doesn't decide the effect of the high has much as many folks think.

I had more of a point to make regarding CBD, but my stoned mind can't recall it. Perhaps I'll edit something in later.

I got terrible anxiety about a year ago when I lost a good job..

I had been a mostly sativa user...  I really thought the sativa was making it worse..  so I got indicas... But I hated the couch lock type high...

So I found I like hybrids..  GSC is a great one for anxiety..  I know it can lean towards indica...

Lately my anxiety has gotten better so i started reaching for pure sativas again..  lately I've found the head high to not get out of controll and I can handle them again.. sometime they really help the anxiety...

    Sometimes I'm just not sure...

But I think the best thing is taking smaller doses..  I used to vaporize more and more trying to get away from being anxiuos and sometime the high made me worse..   When I take small doses ( not easy for a stoner like me ) and just wait... it seems to make the anx tollerable
