Is it ok to trim some of the large leaves while it's in the flowering stage? I'm thinking I have to much foliage and it's actually blocking enough light to slow bud growth. Am I on the right track? I've been on 12/12 for about 2 1/2 weeks.

  2. This is always a hot topic. I don't defoliate and my buds grow just fine.

The leaves are the plants power house.

  3. If you have a 11-12 week strain you may not even have visible flowers at 2.5 weeks in to flowering. For a 8-9 weeks strain you would have little clusters of pistils about the size of a quarter or so but still nothing that looks like a flower near harvest.

  4. Let's see some pictures

  5. I take off lower leaves and branches with popcorn nugs. Waste of growth for bigger top nugs. Works and doesn't harm my plants

  6. Non defoliator here as well.

  7. only if they are resting on the medium.

Absolutely defoliate during flowering. I defoliate at least 3 times during flowering and my yields are far greater than if I didn't defoliate. Exposing budsites to the light is far more important than having fan leaves exposed to the light. By the end of flowering I don't have even a single fan leaf left on my ladies and the buds grow like ...well, like weeds!

  10. Any photos or anything? I'm in flower now and am really curious if I should or not? ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1414084359.672899.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1414084376.102898.jpg

  11. Yes, you can safely remove some leaves that are blocking sunlight to good buds.

I have grown both methods, and have found that a nice balance of strategic trimming in veg, and 2-3 weeks into flower will produce the best results for me.   I can make about 2.5 pounds per 600w light when done with the right strain, and trimming method.

I should note that my flowering room has two 600w lights, and I harvest perpetually each month.

  12. Batman def do it. Trim off any bottom ones for a clean stalk along with branches where tiny pop corn nugs are slowly forming because they can't get to the light. No point of adding extra time to wait on a few small .3 nugs lol. This allows the plant to focus energy on the main colas. Fan leaves are useless really after you start flowering. Flowers have there own set of leaves that you'll start noticing that provides them with what they need. I only take off leaves that go nowhere like to bud sites I remove the lone fan leaves all over the plant to let more light through. My plants stay healthy and don't slow down after doing this. I have 5 plants and see 1-2g buds with a few top colas that look to be a quarter all over my plant and I'm 42 days in. A lot of trichs to

  14. Thanks everybody for the input. I went ahead and did a light trim yesterday, but I think it still needs some cleaning. I guess now wouild be a good time to get some clones going. right?

  15. I do the same thing you do letter 3. Except I LST then chop lowers off. I had to chop off an entire branch at least a foot and a half tall last night because it snapped while I was working on them. Could have easily fixed it with a band aid but I just chopped it. It was annoying and always found it's way back to the light to get burned lol. Trimming makes a huge dif if you ass me. If you aren't over a size of my thumb nail I'm chopping you off at this point in flowering lol. Makes everything clean and you can make other buds fatter. I also transplanted my chemdawg to soil. It was a late bloomer so I removed it so I can have more space for the others. Here's a few photos from last night:

This chocolope has an awesome candy like smell and a lot of trichs. Even half way up fan leaves and one the stems you can feel it after grabbing a stem on your fingers lol
