PTI (First Offenders Act) Drug Testing Odds?

    I was put on p.t.i. for 2 possessions of mary jane and an abstruction of justice. I went to one short drug educational class for first offenders, they drug tested me there at the class. I came out negative. What I want to know is what are the odds of me being subjected to random screening? The class was on October 4th, and today is October 20th. I have not been called in to go take a test. The woman at the district court said I was liable for random screening and I must finish paying a fine. Does anyone think they may not ever call me in to go take a random test? Or are my random testing odds stacked against me?  To anyone who has any advice with p.t.i random drug tests, please help.

    They may lull you into a false sense of safety then burn you.  Does the program end for you when you pay off the fine?  If so, pay it as soon as possible and don't leave yourself open to take another fall.  Stay clean until you are out of the system.

    She didn't specify if I may pay it all at once, or how long I would be subject to screening. Do you think asking her would be a good or bad idea?

    My buddy thought he was done with pti cause he finished all the requirements. 1 Month later the director of the program calls to tell him he has to take a final drug test to exit the program. He failed. Had to go back to court. 90 Days straight time for simple possession.

    All is fair when you are up against the system.  Tell the person that you want to enlist in the military and get some structure in your life but, you know if anything drug related comes up that you will get rejected.  Say something to the effect that you know you screwed up but, you just want to make good on what you owe without messing up your life.  Then ask her your questions about the specifics.  You might get a better deal on making it all go away if she buys your tactics.

    You see there? This is what we are all fighting. The fucked up corruption of non violent crime punishment. 90 days for failing a test is unconstitutional. I would have wanted to spit in the arresting officers face and call him a fuckin pig for 90 days. Say the same thing to the judge and all the deputies in the county jail.
      That would have gotten you a life sentence. A non violent crime with no priors of criminal violence? Just possesion? That's fucked up.
    How old were you, where did this take place? and what was the obstruction of justice? Do you have any priors of criminal activity? Felonies? Resisting arrest?

    OSS, remember back in the 80's & 90's when they started building all the new jails and prisons?  I think this is how they keep them occupied.  Either that or the judge is getting kickbacks from some corporate owned facility.

    Yes! That's what has to be stopped. Industrialized prisons for profit. And humans pay. Non violent humans that grow a plant. Thier lives get destroyed. I like George Carlin's idea better.

    Shit like this is why the US has the largest incarceration rate in the world.  We are 5% of the planet's population and we have 25% of the planet's jailed people.

    I agree. Its ludacris how quickly they will throw a person in jail; especially over something as trivial as possession. One small mistake can then alter the rest of your life.
    And OSS, my friend was twenty four. Arrested on a routine traffic stop for simple possession. No priors, non violent, no resisting. South Carolina will bend you over when it comes to pot.
