Over 40

I'm in, if you want to make this a new Old Folks Home. I love the young people, but I can relate to hanging out with people who share something like an "era" together.
 
So pass the Preparation-H and pull up a diaper, you old codgers.

 

Now that is funny, almost shot my coffee from my nose. Given our age (53 count?) and that when you think about it, this will probably be the only time in history where there are more old-farts toking that young pups; with legalization going the way it is, the next generation will have their own pot-head elder class but there will be exponentially more younguns then too.
 
So for now, we outnumber the kids so if we have a subforum for old farts, isn't that almost everybody now? ^__^
 
Seriously though I am for this too.I have never felt an herb-oriented generational gap before like this..

 

Yes, I think there is a thread for old timers. It's not very popular though because the kids outnumber the adults on GC 100 to 1.

 

Well that bites then. I am not new to forums but this is the first herb-oriented one that seems to still be alive (weedpals), not overrun with spammers (medicalmarijuana.com/sensi-social), or has more than one thread (Weedmaps::what are you smoking?). There are a lot of subforums and threads here and I really haven't gotten a sense of the demographics here yet. I just figured that we (the collective old fart brigade) have had more time to build up our numbers before the ranks of the newly-legalized kids filled up the forum...but I could be wrong. Hell the easiest way for me to make the kiddies leave is to use terminology from our generation so when I refer to picking up a lid they are "huh?". I mean, I met a kid the other day (20-something) who delivered my meds, I went to give him a hit off of the steamroller as part of a tip and he looks at the steamroller like I put a nuclear bomb in his hands, not a clue what to do with it...and then I tried to explain how power-hitters worked. Once he got the hang of it, it was like he felt he had discovered some new cool way to take and couldn't wait to go tell his friends...that is exactly how I felt the first time I was faced with doing wax this year..

 

I did find something about being a pot-smoking grandpa and I looked into it a little. I am not a grandpa (I guess I could be) but I got the sense he was looking for pot-smoking grandmas if you get my drift. Maybe not, there were not too many posts..

 

I dont consider myself one of the kids; I sometimes feel like an old fella, but no matter. I'm always happy, and sometimes prefer, to share a toke with someone with extra years on me. You lot have the best stories.

 

Hey Toasty, as anyone here will tell you, age is simply the only metric we have for judging experience and having your shit together. Granted it is a lame metric but it is all we have for introductions. However the real measuring stick (such as it is) is simply how you act...and you seem fine to me ^__^

 

Cheers, mate! That sure does a fine job of explaining all those fellas in the government. If they're any sort of example to go by, age far from defines who has their shit together.

 

i like old people because i like asking them about dinosaurs, fire, the invention of the wheel... no but rly they are wise and have amazing stories. i wish i had grandparents who gave a crap //: theres literally an entire life inside that person thats so crazy they know so much.

Yes smart-ass, we needed to invent the fire to light our hot-boxes...just kidding....we needed fire for other shit too Joking aside I have a lifetime I want to share with my kid when he is ready...which may be a long time coming at this rate..

 

I have been thinking about old stoners and stories and how they can be fun...and having become one myself, I would posit that all stories seem to center around what we engineers used to label an MFU or Massive Fuck Up that happened. Now as with all stoner-oriented MFUs, they seem terribly tragic at the time but when viewed through the lens of time you can start to see the absurd and funny bits about what happened and it is these funny bits that form the genesis of the classic Stoner Story.

I was just thinking about starting an "over 50" thread, but realized that would be mostly me talking to myself. And I don't need a thread to do that. Do it all the time. Makes the dog stare at me.
So then I thought about making an over 40 thread. And then I thought I should go look and see if one was already up.
And there ya be.
 
Once upon a time many years ago this was the meeting hall for a group know as O.F.F. (Old Fried Farts.)
And then it came to pass that there were some grandma's out there, so another "F" was added for "Fart-ette's." 
But a lot of the original members have wandered away or been banned over the years.
 
But the charter is still active.
  
So let's talk about lower intestinal health at great length.
And how when you get older they start wanting to stick more things in your butt.
And cut parts of you off.
And we can yell at the kids to get out of our yard.
And wear Bermuda shorts and black stretch socks.
And say "huh?" a lot.
 
Nice to see a few elder blades wandering back in.

For me its like the things that thrilled me about herb as a younger person no longer do...but different and *better* things about it thrill me now so this has been an interesting time to be alive, no? Besides, if you have a sense of humor, you are one step closer to that final punchline...
