Twitter reacted appropriately when comparing the peaceful protests in ferguson, and this RIOT.
This is a RIOT. Beer cans thrown at cops, property destroyed.

What a difference in police reaction ehh?

  2. Are you comparing drunkards throwing beer cans thrown at officers to a criminal that attacked a police officer in a threatening manner(<true account of Brown)?
And a flipped car (Keene) to arson(Ferguson)?
Did the kids break into houses or stores and steal things? There was plenty of looting in Ferguson...

I hate the fact that a comparison is made at all.
Crimes are committed in every city, each day. Why anyone has to go out of their way to make a comparison to Ferguson is beyond me. I would have been all over and all on the Ferguson community's side, with my Libertarian spout reaching ears everywhere, had I not found out the Ferguson community committed a crime far heinous to the militarized and pompous police force: lying to the American public. Preventing the truth to come out by manipulating their witness accounts. That is a serious abuse that has yet to be addressed. I wanted the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, and neither side gave that. This Keene thing is different.

A drunk college town is not news. Riot police having to deal with a drunk college town is not a new thing.

  3. I watched most of the protests on livestream, they where usually very peaceful, but the amount of force used towards the media and citizens was incomprehensible. It's showing the difference of force and reason, they called ferguson riots. This is a riot. Around 4,000 people, not a couple hundred of protesters.

But the police force isn't comparable.

One was a city and state where crime rates, especially certain dangerous crimes, were quite high. Over the years, that allowed stronger (more unlawful) policies, more militarization of the police force, and a stronger crackdown.

Keene on the other hand...is in New Hampshire. Hell, I forgot New Hampshire was even a state. Different size, different ideologies, and different equipment on hand.

Edit: For example, the Missouri murder rate of the last year was almost eight times that of New Hampshire. Police are different state by state, county by county, and sometimes an a smaller local level. All this is telling is...I should move to NH to have some fun.
Edit: Turns out, New Hampshire actually has the lowest murder rate, for 2013/2014...

  5. I was actually at Pfest this year again and the media exaggerated a decent amount of it. The police came with a strong arm approach right away BEFORE the riots. The riots where a result of the police using unnecessary force from the get go. Was it right to riot? Not really, but the difference between ferguson and keene is that the only crimes that are commonly committed are underage drinking and smoking the herb. For the most part.
