break proofing bongs

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by notmattwarren, Oct 19, 2014.

  1. I was wondering if any of you have put any thought into ways to take a bong and make it "MUCH" more difficult break.

My only real idea was covering the entire bong(except areas near flame and bottom for stability reasons) with a 1/4 inch or so of hot glue. But i was entirely uncertain if this would actually make the bong more resilient.

    thoughts?

  2. just be careful, my advice would be to use the bong in one specific place, like a desk. and keep it around there. also buy an AC so you can clean that instead of your whole tube, it will keep your tube alive longer since most glass seems to get broken while cleaning. dont coat the whole thing in hot glue, it will look like shit and any dirt/resin will just coat the glue until you have the nastiest looking piece possible.

  3. Da fuq?  If you have a nice bong, like a really nice one, you wouldn't want it to look all fucked up with glue.  If you have a real shitty one that you would do this to, I wouldn't care if it broke.

  4. The number 1 way to break proof a bong is to be careful

  5. Buy a bong that isn't likely to break ? IMO, peer pressure can be kind of silly. Spending crazy amounts of money on a water pipe...more power to you. I'll stick with my unbreakable bong and enjoy my stress free smoke sessions.

Got caught up on wrong part of post; glue could easily be removed if it got dirty(tested with my specific glue).I am entirely aware it would make it aesthetically unappealing but frankly that is relevant to me.

Also, please no more comments suggesting things along the lines of leaving it in one place, buying unbreakable bongs or the "be careful". The mission of the post is clear. Think of a way to Take a basic bong( lets say 5mm) and make some modification(yes may you make it look like a turd) that makes it much more likely to not break if dropped, bumped into another object or tipped over.

get a nice fixed perc tube that is built sturdy. Proper storage is key!  I got me a nice bag Made by Kirkor "Magic Tailor Bag".

Especially when you spend alot its more motivation to take care of it..... I worry about earthquakes  , so you cant be over protective

  8. Noobs, you can buy kryptonite varnish for glass bongs.

  9. Cement the base into your basement floor.

Wrap it with a swimming-pool noodle? Or just develop some sense of responsibility....

  11. They make these "cool" wraps that tie around the base or beaker bottom of your tube so you don't have to set it down super gently but I think they're ugly. Come in camo and prints like that

I guess if you know someone who has a glass oven you could theoretically heat temper it? It's pretty easy, but there's a risk of the glass cracking during the process if it's not done correctly, especially if your bong is made from thin china glass
