pll 55w lights

  1. needed new veg lights so bought a 2 light fixture pll 55w per tube grow light, not impressed as plants dont seem to like it.always used cfls before and no problem, with thease lights at 6in above 6in plants they are not growing and leaves burning.highered them to 9in and plants doing nothing, they are the right spectrun to veg and very bright but just dont seem to grow the plants.

  2. I've used a variety of pll lights and I'm happy with their results.

Like other cfl lights they need to be close to the plants to be effective. I keep my plants within inches of them. If you are getting heat issues at 6" away you might need to increase airflow...I think they actually run really cool for 55w.

....they're essentially a 4ft t-5 HO bulb bent in half.

tried that, so downloaded spec for unit, it says they nead to be about 20 in above plant because the light is intence,
Your Bright-Wing light combines two high output 55 Watt
fl uorescent tubes and a highly effi cient dimpled aluminium
refl ector to create the ultimate high output fl uorescent
unit. It is ideal for rooting cuttings and seedlings, early
vegetative growth or for maintaining a mother plant.
Minimal heat is generated by this unit, however it is
important to maintain suitable hanging heights to avoid
any potential damage to plants. The diagram opposite
illustrates the various guide heights at which you should
hang your Bright-Wing depending on what stage of growth
    your plants are at.
For rooting cuttings or seedlings the unit should be
suspended about 80cm from plant tops. If using a
propagator, adjust the height of the light until the
desired temperature is reached inside (approx 27

    0C [750F]).
Lift the lid once a day and mist with water. Never leave the
cuttings sitting in water. Once rooted, cuttings/seedlings
progressively need a greater supply of light.
The 2-tube unit is specifi cally designed for the vegetative
growth stage. Due to the high output, even on strong
plants with 60cm (2 feet) or more growth the light needs
to be 25 - 30cm (10 to 12 inches) away to avoid potentially
    causing damage

  4. here's my little box I have that holds my mother plants and clones....The tops of the containers are within 6" of the lights.

It has a 55w pll on the bottom, and a 34w pll on top. I have another veg setup with 2x55w pll and my plants are within inches of it....that box even has no cooling and I only get burn when the leaves touch.

  5. funny that, its burning all mine,j ust put it higher about 20in, ive always used cfl in veg even a 300w cfl and never burnt plants like this only once in flower useing a led light that killed 4 plants before i put them back under hps. ive put a few 26w red cfls in there just to see if it improves, ive used  t8 lights and a lightwave 4bulbt5 over plants as well before again no burn, my lights must be powerful as no heat hardly off bulbs. its not one plant either its all 12, was 16 but pulled 4 out and put them under a 20w blue spectrum bulb in a grow box. again no burn and growing  ok.doing nothing different to all my other grows over the last few years , only thease pll lights.

  6. weird...I've been using these lights for several years and I've never experienced the burning that you are. I'm not arguing..:) ..I've just had much different results.

Are you positive the ballast is wired right and everything? I have a pll wiring pic in my gallery if ya want me to post it. Did your brightkit come with a workhorse 5 ballast?

  7. i bought it brand new, its a complete kit, only needed to put the 2 bulbs in an away she fired up, today although plants only 9in high,i usually wait till they are 20 in, put  4 under my hps in flower room, highered lights again and took cfls out as more burn today,  might sell it if things dont improve and get a 4 tube lightwave,Never useing leds again either as borrowered a mates who could not get it to grow anything and it killed 4 plants in flower, a mars full sectrum 190w ufo light, Im thinking this modern stuff to powerful especialy in veg.
