So I am converting an old laundry into a grow space. Approximately 4' x 3'. Has water, drain, attic hatch, and electricity. Used to be a laundry and has been converted to a closet. Here we go...
Mylar is up. All my exhaust parts arrived. Seeds arrived. Hanging hardware arrived to hang exhaust. Gonna hang it this weekend. Getting closer to Nov. 4 DC vote.
Bought a Mars II 900, 450 actual for the room. 250$ new. EBay auction. Won't be long now. Still have to hang the exhaust. Had to work last weekend.

Yeah the pic is deceiving. No right angles. It's a generous curve. It's kicking out some air. It got cold in there. It has an accordion type door so it has gaps all around the door. I can just open it if it gets too hot. I can leave it open if I need. I might go to a bigger fan if needed as well. Thanks for the advice! I put a fan speed controller on it, too, in case I have to go the other way. Prob won't though. I'm kinda addicted to eBay so I'm bidding on another lamp. Auction ends in an hour and I have to be at work (finally!) at 6:30 across town haha. The Mars 900 is nice, but Id like to make some dough on it if I can. I got if for like 250 or somethin. If I get this other one it will be a deal, too. I hate paying retail. I started to work on my power. Pulled out some old timers from my aquarium arsenal. GFI and power strip timer, plus two smaller timers. Wanna sync my fans with my lights. Still gotta finalize it and install an outlet.
I went over the fan again and made it better. I would like to just shoot up to the outtake but I wanna keep everything on the studs.
Looks good man but just one thing....Depending on the CFM of your fan, it may be to close to your filter. It will pull a lot of carbon dust out of your filter and gunk it up. I would recommend, if possible, running the fan at the end of your ducting in the attic. It will reduce dust and noise. Can't wait to see the trees.... Good headroom in there!
Hey thanks! Yeah I thought about that. That's why I put it where I did. Originally I was gonna put it right before the fan. I pushed air through the filter both ways outside before I hung it. A lot of stuff did come out. I will look at it. Maybe there is a way I can shorten the run at the same time. Thanks a lot!
I'm new to growing so I'm not sure but are you supposed to have a fan blowing on the buds at all times?
1200 mars 2 won for 380 shipped new in box. I'll sell the 900 when it arrives and make like 50. So my 1200 will cost like 330$!
Can you 180 the filter and fan and have the filter by the light fixture to me that seems like it make the run shorter?
Hey yeah I thought about that but I didn't do it because it would put the filter near the door. I thought it would be better to have it opposite the door. Probably gonna go with this until my light arrives and I can do some testing. Thanks for help!
So I'm at work thinking about the closet haha. Maybe I will put the fan at a 45-90 degree angle from where it is now. It will put a turn in the system but will shorten it considerably. It has a turn like it is so I don't think it would be any different in that regard. Gonna work on it this afternoon. I really appreciate the suggestions. I totally need people to make me think about stuff differently. I can be stubborn. Which is the whole reason I joined GC.
