  1. I'll be plastidipping my entire car in a few days. I have a leak in the weatherstripping of my sunroof. Since the dip is plastic and technically a New skin for you car. Would it Fix the leak?

  2. absolutely not. fix what ever is leaking before you even think about plastidip. are you 100% sure its the sunroof and not the windscreen? if its been an ongoing problem (more then a month or if you are near the coast/sa;t) you will need to take off your roof lining, clean and dry EVERYTHING and where ever there is rust fix it. it will only get worse and fast. as someone who has had to deal with rust in a roof/windscreen before. its best to sell it.

  3. If its surface rust , take care of it now. If it ate thru, you'll need new sheet metal. Time consuming and $$$

  4. Try fixing it first doubt plasti dip will fix it lol
Make sure you spray the shit even too so it doesn't come out like my plasti dip hood and feel like sand paper

  5. Its not technically a new skin for your car - it is a rubberized coating. New skin would be painting the car and laying down fresh clear coat.

No, it will not fix your weatherstripping.

    Also,

Plastidip will NEVER come out smooth. It is a rubberized texture that was originally made for dipping tools into for a grip. It will always feel rough - there is no way around it. Lighter colors won't show the texture as much, but its there.

  6. Idk I've seen it come out fairly smooth obviously not like real paint.
But it can be smooth for what it is tons of videos on youtube with guys getting it pretty dam smooth

It can "look" smooth but it truly is not. If you use their clearcoat version of PD, it will also come out looking much smoother than it really is.

I'm sure you'd have to spray gallons upon gallons to get it to come out smooth to the touch. IDK anyone who wants to spray their car with like 900 dollars worth of plastidip tho lol

  8. Yeah it definitely has still got texture no matter what.
And yeah thats the conclusion I came to...it's more trouble than it's worth better off just doing a real paint job.

Did not know they had a clear coat im sure that does help but yeah in the end it's still rubber

  9. dude flex seal that shit!

  10. I use plastidip on my RC servos to help waterproof them. Basically you oil fill the innards, dip in plastidip, change an o ring and bam, waterproof. Now they are not the main waterproofing agent though. If you put down a really thick layer with absolutely no gaps or pin holes, it might work temporarily, but wouldn't be all that attractive as there would be substantial buildup. 'Dip is good for some things, not this application though

  11. looks like it could be clogged sunroof drainage tubes. common problem for sunroofs, they have these troughs that collect water that seeps in around the sunroof and drain it out under the car. usually dirt or spiders get in there and block it up. often blowing compressed air into the holes in the trough can clear it out but it could also be that a piece of the tube got disconnected. i'd say though it looks like the trough is overflowing and getting water all over your headliner.

  12. A lot of leaks from sun roofs are caused by clogged drain tubes. Find the tube and unclog it.

  13. You might as well just powder coat it. It will be a lot better than that plastidip

  14. ^^^THIS
I had a Grand Prix that leaked like crazy. Cleaned the drain tubes and it never leaked again.
