CFL Bag seed closet grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by cannabiscouple603, Oct 16, 2014.

  1. Alright, so my girlfriend and I got a new apartment, and what else to do but start growing some Cannabis.

Im aware that this forum is full of some very educated growers, and all advice is wanted! We are however on a budget, limited space, limited resources etc... I'm not aiming for a super yield, but what I want is to grow some good healthy plants using what I have.

    What im using right now

I have 2 (3 week old plants) and 3 (1 week old plants). Each plant is getting a mix between 5500 and 6500K bulbs at 2-3 inches, along with side lighting at 2700K to help with internode growth.

I am limited with air intake because its in a closet but the door gets opened daily, there is internal air circulation, and the closet is not "air tight" . when I open the door, i often put a fan exchanging air.

I introduced Miracle Grow to the older plants at a ratio of about 1/4 recommended dosage.
One plant has taken to it well, the other has shown some signs which to me look like either nitrogen toxicity or nute burn.

Hopefully Ill be able to stay on top of getting stuff on here pictures and info. once again thank you everyone who posts on here, produces content, youtube videos, everything, it makes researching and diving into something so much easier. Hopefully some people follow along, give advice, and help me if i need any, Thanks again guys.

[IMG][IMG]Ok so today I went to Home Depot and decided that a reflector would be well worth it, I bought some sheet metal, and formed it in a way that it would direct the light down, I also got some dual sockets, i see a bunch of people using these and finally decided 2 was better than 1, so away I went Finangling and this is what I got. I am using rope in each corner then to an eye hook so I can adjust heigh freely.

  3. Your babies are way to young for nutes wait till they are at their 3rd to 4th node. I grow cfl as well and I have been trying to sub into many new aspiring cfl growers and help guide them to grow some awesome pot for cheap. Hope you don't mind.

  6. Nice little grow, do you have any other way of extracting the spent air other than opening the door? Are you checking the pH? They just look a little small and yellowish for 3 week old plants. Do you know what strain they are?

  7. I don't know what strain they re unfortunately. as far as getting the air out, i really don't have any other way, door gets left open on average 6-8 hours a day with fan in the door for that period. The air has never gotten above like 80 in there because i live in the North East. Yeah after reading more into it i realized i fed a little to early, only one seems affected by the nuts and even that one after I flushed, looks like it will bounce back. I am not checking pH, I know everyone says that this is very important, I just have not felt comfortable yet trying to tackle controlling pH. A friend grower told me that sometimes you worrying about it can hurt them more when you over correct. as far as size and color, Im not exactly sure how you judge the plants age by. they were germinated the last week of september and then planted. id say they broke the soil by the first few days of october, this may mean they are only about 2-2.5 weeks old. Id love any advice I can get. I do feel like the growing has slowed down, first thought was light height, but after checking all are about 2 inches so shouldn't be stretching but also not (the opposite?). They are getting bushy which I wanted because height is a concern. I am hoping to eventually LST and my goal is a multi-cola bonsai looking tree. (Fingers Crossed) Besides the nuts burn (if thats what it is) is there anything else you guys can see that looks wrong with them?

  8. Just a few updated pictures, starting to get greener. with the new DIY Reflector )that i should really do a write up about. under $20 and it houses a total of 6 bulbs and could fit more if I had planned accordingly) It is super easy to adjust the height of the light. with this addition, it looks as though they are looking a bit better this morning when i took these. Ill snap some more tonight.

  9. You have to get the pH right, there's no way around it. Tap water is normally to high for cannabis to thrive. A test kit cost very little. If your friend grows could he test it for you...?

  10. I could ask them, or i dont mind ordering if its that necessary, I get my water from a local Mt. Spring, no chlorine. This spring is one of the best in our area. What exactly do you do when PH is off?, i only know in the sense of pools. What exactly does it do for the plants.

  11. Have a read of this http://www.growweedeasy.com/ph
Spring water normally has an even higher pH than treated water. The idea that chlorine is toxic to plants is a myth, it just raises the pH. Rainwater is better, checking the pH and correcting it is even better.

  12. how long will the water stay the correct pH? Say i make a 5 gallon jug of water now, will it still be the right pH 10 days from now?

  13. The pH will stay the same but if you've added nutrients they can go off over time, keeping them some where dark helps.

  14. What type of lights are you using?

  15. Mostly 23w CFL at 6500k  a couple of like 33w cfl at 6500K, 2 at 5500K 18w cfl, and a 30w2700K cfl

  16. Some updated pictures of the older ones. A few more in germ right now. Any advice or thoughts as to how these are looking its been 23 days since they broke the ground surface.. Very slow progress. I'm being patient but concerned. Should I transplant?

  17. the Slow growth is concerning me, today is day 24 since they broke the surface of the soil and they look like they are a week and a half old. I have another one thats about 10 days and she is catching up quick. after much reading, Im starting to think its 1 of 2 things, either the rootball is rootbound, or I have been overwatering. overwatering would explain the stunted growth, but i see no other signs. the leaves are stiff and growing upwards, not drooping and sagging. All the leaves look good and new growth is coming, its just not growing as fast as expected, Do i just need patience? Eventually looking to LST and clone early in order to flower and sex the clone. any and all advice is great, PH tester is coming in today so that will eliminate the question of PH. I have the pots ready to transplant into as soon as that needs to happen. Hope someone can chime in here

  18. Well I decided to transplant the older ones. Good thing.. Roots were doing circles at the bottom of the solo cup. Filled the pots with soil and left a solo cup sized hole. Cut the cups and pulled the whole soil clump and plant out and right into pot. Soil was saturated with water/mg nuts at 1/8 strength.

  19. I still think more air flow would help, it's far more important than just temps. Nearly all of a plants mass is carbon absorbed from the atmosphere. Where is the fresh air coming from to sustain growth? The pH control kit is a step in the right direction, is it the general hydroponics dropper kit? That's the one that I'm using does a great job. When you set the pH go low, 6-6.5. If the pH does drift its more likely to go up than down with spring water...
