High guys, this is my first grow and my first use of this set up (pictures below) so I thought I would share it with all of you. Hopefully someone apart from me will get some helpful information from this thread as the hydroponic set up is quite common in online shops and I'm sure a lot of people are starting off in a wardrobe or cupboard etc and might find this helpful. I decided to cut the first 6 days out of this journal (day one being the day they arrived and I started germination) because there isn't really much to write about until they sprout, I'm counting the first day as today because they're basically past their most vulnerable stage so I know they'll hopefully survive now (not really much point starting a thread and then the seeds don't pop is there? haha). But I know that a lot of people will still want to know, so here's a brief summery: I began germination on the morning of the 9th of October (paper towel method), they popped on the evening of the 10th, I left them for another day so they could grow their roots a little bit longer and planted them in Rockwool cubes in a small, cheap propagator under a 25w CFL on the 11th, one sprouted on the 12th so I turned the CFL onto a 18/6 cycle, the second seed popped on the 13th, nothing really happened on the 14th and now it's the 15th! I'm not going to tell people how to germinate, how to use nutrients etc because there are many more informative threads and people on here that know A LOT more than I do. So now it's day 6! At the moment I have two little baby sprouts, one is 55mm from the top of the Rockwool and one is 40mm (See the 5th picture). I water them with 1.5ml of each of the flora series (floragrow, floramicro and florabloom) diluted in 1 litre of water that I have kept half of in a small jug, and half in a spay bottle because that way I can water the Rockwool and spray a mist over the leaves. They get checked when I wake up, before work, after work and before bed so I should be able to spot any problems quite early on. Tomorrow is day 7 so hopefully everything goes well and I'll report back here at some time after work! Any questions please ask me, I welcome any questions or criticisms you might have (helpful criticism that is) because all I want to do is learn to grow some perfect MJ for myself and stop wasting my money. It consists of a reservoir bucket in the bottom right shelf space and then the two separate buckets with single net pots in the bottom left, they're both connected to the reservoir via a piece of black pipe and go through the side of the shelf that I had to drill out. There is also a small spherical air stone in each of the two pots attached to the air pump that you can just about see.
Right so now it's the end of day 7! Checked on them this morning and everything was fine, watered the cubes with a few drops from the jug and sprayed the leaves. I did notice that the left hand side sprout is stretching up a little too much, unlike the right side sprout which is perfect! But unfortunately I can't put the light any closer because the lid of the propagator is in the way, unless of course I take the lid off, would that be okay or are they still too young really? Keeping in mind I do have a fan cooling the light. The left hand side sprout is now 62mm tall and the right side is 45mm. But the right hand side sprout's leaves have grown out a bit more, not much of a change for the left (any name suggestions?). They're in their dark cycle (6am till 12am light) as I write this and Ive only just got back to writing this because of working late, so the pictures where taken at around 5pm today before work, but I'm sure they wouldn't have changed much in size.
