Another reason to get your children/self the chickenpox vaccination so long as they're able to to. There's also a shingles vaccine, but most doctors won't give it until you're 50-60 years old.

The nurse who took care of the man in Dallas who died, and contracted the virus, was recently sent home because she was fine. It can only be transmitted through body fluids, so unless you're rolling around in infected poop or blood you should be okay
