Medical Marijuana card and certification, does that protect against drug tests?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by S4LUT3t0LUN4CY, Oct 15, 2014.

  1. Title says it all, I'm currently job searching and have a couple interviews lined up. I have a medical marijuana card in AZ, if a employer asks for a DT supposedly you are protected from prosecution and termination of employment, but not sure how to go about this IF i am asked to submit a DT or sign my name on a form that says i am subjected to a DT?

The jobs I'm applying to are probably not ones that would ask for drug tests, but still, just need some info and insight 😄

  2. Since it is illegal under Federal law, the employer could still not hire you/fire you for testing positive for cannabis, in any state, even Colorado and Washington.

  3. as long as you dont operate machines including driving cars or trucks you shouldnt have a problem I failed a drug test at work and all i had to do was show them my card and told them that when im working im 100% sober just make sure you explain to them that thc stays in your system for almost a month they should understand.

Arizona law prohibits employers and educational institutions from discriminating against people if they test + for thc. So it is illegal to turn you down or fire you if you have thc in your system. However, federal jobs are excluded from this because the law is a state law. So you just can't get a governmental position. Also, you can be fired for showing up high for regular jobs. Idk the best way to let an employer know because I haven't had to take a drug test, but I imagine you'd tell them before you take the test.
