ExoticTaste, Not Exotic Bud

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Stray Dog, Oct 13, 2014.

  1. If been wondering what I can use to give my havested Bud a better smell and taste. I've had a friend tell me to use oils (Flavored doppers, honey, even coconut oils) but I don't know much about it, an help? just wanting a fruity taste, no crazy shit please.

  2. You can place dried buds in a closed container with orange or lemon peels and it will have that smell. Just store it overnight and it should be ready in the morning.

  3. Thanks Master, I'll try it out tonight.

  4. Don't do that. I mean, go ahead, but you won't be pleased. My advice is to get a strain that is known for whatever smell you're interested in and/or give your harvest 3-4 week cure and you won't even want to do that shit.

  5. I agree with CanadianOrganic.

No bullshit gimmicks man.  Get a quality strain or better yet a proven cutting and a proper cure.

  6. I have a really fruity tasting lemon strain from my outdoor project this year but its just missing something. The taste just isn't as strong as the smell it's there just not enough to make me happy enough to leave it be. I keep ending up with a nice taste but I really just want a sweeter one, I'm not use how to even explain what I'm looking for.

Got 3 strains I love the smell of an the smokes nice but it's just not there. It's like opening a pack of juice fruit an realizing it's sugar free. Lol, I'm still open to ideas. Growing new strains would be simple enough but I'm setting here smoking with my dog right now Watching walking dead re-runs lol I'm just trying to see what ideas y'all have that I can try out in real time instead of down the road. Thanks for the heads up wasting time on the peel idea tho, figured all it would be good for was a more pungent smell to my sour lemon tho I was willing to see lol.

  7. The smell is a characteristic of the strain. A proper cure brings out the smell but you usually don't add stuff to your bud, do you wanna smoke perfume?

  8. Did you give it a decent cure? Say 2-4 weeks?

  9. Ended up curing it for 5 weeks, it was only spose to be 4 but I had to hold off after going out of state. It came out great tho, whipped down the sides of the jars with orange extract the last week after making it back and honestly there's a big difference in the bud I didn't do it to. Came out between a orange lemonade smell and a lemon haze taste with alittle orange on inhale.

(This is my first try and not the last, at this point I'd say you can easily change the taste of your bud with just a little help if anyone's been fallowing this) a big thank you for those of you willing to pass around ideals.

Good growing, then drying 4 days or longer if your humidity permits and then an great cure! I never flush and people love the taste of my buds. I don't tell them because if you tell someone they swear they can taste it,. LOL! I do not embarrass them either by pointing it out.

  11. look for genetics that fit your taste better, no gimmicks involved.

  12. Get fruity genetics and cure for 4 weeks like already said. Just don't dry too fast

  13. This was an experiment from the start, it was a random plant with a average idea. And it worked, I already know strains that have the taste I was trying for but I wanted to see if I could actually help the taste of something that was bland and well it went surprisingly well. I only posted it here for the first time growers, when their setting around high an get to wondering hopefully they can find this post within all the "won't work" & "grow different bud an smoke it four months from now instead" posts and comments. To anyone who offered a helping hand I appreciate it.

  14. People been flavoring weed for a long time. So, since you said its your 1st time but not your last, I take it you plan to grow bland weed again, why??? Wouldn't you just rather just smoke weed you like, then oils or flavorings?

I find it strange that no one has offered up the advice that I am about to give you.  Also please note that I am a beginner.  Edit: As in take what I say not as an absolute necessarily.

The only way *I* I know of to enhance flavor and aroma (and potency according to Advanced Nutrients) is to add sugar-based additives to your fertilizer water.

There are two products I have in mind for you.

The first is the FloraNectar line from General Hydroponics.  Their newest product in that line is Pineapple Rush.  It uses natural sugars extracted from pineapples and may contain molasses (molasses is the original flavor booster.). FloraNectar is affordable.

The other product is Bud Candy from Advanced Nutrients.  This one's formula sounds really cool as it contains sugars from 5 different sources including cane and molasses, vitamins, possibly other carbohydrates and "trace elements" that supposedly won't cause nutrient burn when used in conjunction with a bloom formula.

Bud Candy is expensive, as is everything from Advanced Nutrients.  But I found a deal!!!!!!!!!

Buy two for the best deal.  You will not find a cheaper price on one liter quantities from anyone selling actual one liter bottles than this 2 500 ML thing.

Additionally you can use the product Magpro from Dyna-Gro to boost your buds in some ways (not sure exactly as this one may be more yield oriented than sugars).

    Good luck!

Edit:  I do not know if any of this actually works but this is the official bud flavor boosting methodology Straydog.

  16. I'm sure it works, adding molasses sweetens it to but that's all during growth an I was just trying to make a quick fix to a flavor. I'm glad to see someone actually try to help tho.

  17. Out of all the strains I've grown for flavor, strawberry cough was the closest to it's namesake in taste and smell. Very sweet and berry-like, smelled like candy when I opened the jar.

  18. I've been told you can buy hard candy flavoring online, like Amazon. Then you add the flavor to the bud or papers let it dry out and enjoy. These favors come in all sorts of varieties, and are really strong. A very little goes a long way.

Like honey blunts or the flavored rolling papers. If you smoke no flavored stuff out of your pipe and then throw in that lemon bud it's going to take away from the smoke. When ever we test flavor it's always from joints. Standard papers with out flavor. May work for you? I love flavorful weed so I grow the strains that say they have fruity tastes or citrus. Just up to the grower.
