drive an '01 2500 with 5.9L, auto. transmissions man. needed new one to the tune of $2200 this spring after it dropped reverse. and the fuel economy... 10.5mpg or so?
Used to have a 2000 2500 with a 5.9 Cummins and manual transmission. Hell of a truck, but I know a lot of people have had transmission issues with them. I never did personally (is it just the auto trannies or both?), I ended up selling it because I needed some cash and the gas just too damn expensive. I got around 15 mpg, but still too low in my opinion, especially for diesel.
the manual transmissions were fine. its the autos that are garbage. a guy i worked for had a 2012 ram 2500 with the cummins/mercedes manual 6 speed. 700hp/1200ft.lbs. thing was dope.
Got my 99' 2500 dodge v10. Would have gladly taken the cummins but it was given to me as a first truck. Currently replacing the hood and getting some new tires.

they're just weak. i don't know why for sure.. just that its something dodge has struggled with for years. any plans for your truck? hemi can turn some pretty big tires...
No big plans yet, it was already chromed out and had an aftermarket cd player when I got it. Changed the oil and seafoamed it last week. Thinking about replacing the stock muffler. I've heard many times that Dodge is known for making a terrible engine for their rams..the HEMIs might be different. I own a 2003 dodge ram 4 door..it's been in and out of the shop too many times to count. Anyone wanna buy a dodge? lol My dodge is actually in the shop right now..lmao
My dad has a 2002 w/4.7 4x4 it is sooo shit. The thing is horrawful on gas, slow, and in general doesn't ride well. Without a flinch, I would take Ford or Chevy or Toyota over dodge any day. Guy I work with bought a brand new special order Ram with the hemi, reg cab short box. Anyways in the first 6 months he drove a Dart(joke in it's own right) most of the time, due to the fact the truck was always in the shop on warranty.
I have a 2001 dodge Dakota xlt extended cab pickup truck and I would not trade it for anything in the world..or ever sell it either...I had a Camaro awhile back and I thought that it sucked major balls....so its gone
speed sensor is inop in the '01 2500, so the fuel economy gauge is reading .1mpg. point-fucking-one miles per gallon.
