Art saves me, maybe it could help you?

1. Hi,
I want to encourage everyone to try creating art.

It doesn't have to be perfect. Messy can be beautiful. I love abstract art. Often, I just start with a squiggle and add details from there.

Sometimes I start with words. It can be a way to release anger, and it can also be a way to express your thoughts, feelings, gratitude, etc, with people in your life. I sometimes really struggle to actually say things to people, so I write the words down and transform them into abstract art.

Painting can be great too. You can really let things out with colors & the pressure that you paint with. And nothing has to be perfect. There is no such thing as perfect.

Art saves me and has been saving me throughout my life. I struggle with depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and other things.
I want to share art with others. Anyone can create art.

I'm new here and I feel pretty awkward. I'm not sure where to post this, I just really wanted to encourage people to try creating art. It has been so beneficial for me. I'll share examples of my artwork in the future. I think.. I guess I'll make this an optional dare... If you want to accept, I dare you to create some art. It can even be just a scribble, but I encourage you to spend at least two minutes creating art.

I really hope each person reading this is doing well! I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
meisabelep

5. I thought this was a really nice place and I was sharing something that I thought might help improve the lives of others, even if it's just a tiny bit.
I was just trying to be helpful.

6. Ok don't get all booty tickled. You posted this in the stoniest place in the usa, what did you expect?

8. Lol.

9. When i was having health problems, relationship problems, and parents divorce and personal problems a couple years ago, the only way i could cope with it all without going insane was creating abstract music.
There was no definitive direction, but it told a story. A deep, hidden story made by soundwaves and frequencies molded the way i desired.

Today it just reminds me that i didnt fuck up during hard times and that im ok today.
Those were some dark times and i made some dark music to remind me of it.

i love art.

10.
I know a lot of people who smoke because it helps with whatever issues they are having in life, and many stoners who struggle with depression and things like that. I know many stoners who are kind and don't mock people who are just trying to help.

I don't know what I expected, but I didn't expect to be mocked for sharing my great experience with art and how much it has saved me over the years.

11. i need you to re read those posts, nobody was mocking you. We were making a couple of light hearted jokes. Personally, i love art, I'm no artist, but i like it. I willingly took a course in art history. My point in saying that this is the stoniest place in the US, and not to get your jimmies all rustled, was that we're a bunch of silly stoners here, and you shouldn't get so offended when we make jokes, or you won't have a good time in the gc forums
