  1. Ive been a more or les daily smoker for over a year now, and i have finally decided to start growing,i purchased some auto skunk #1 and it has Just sprouted today, i have set up my grow space in my wardrobe and have added 5 cfl's (15 watt, i have been told that this enough for one plant, and thé soil is a mix of compost, wood chip, perlite, and regular garden soil), i will post a photo shortly, any of you more experienced growers have any advice how i should proceed, i really dont want to **** this up!

  2. Def post some pictures when you can. I'm not experienced at all so I will say this from one noob to another try not to over water. 99% of all new growers do it. We get thrilled to see the sprout and leaves grow lol. I have some autos growing right now. They are pretty simple as long as you don't over water or add fertilizer to soon. The whole process will be over before you know it and it's hard to recover trust me anything I could do wrong I have so far. Best of luck. I will be following!

  3. Year i agree with the overwatering, i'm always tempted to water Just a little more, since i have time on my hands ive been watering little and often, anyway thanks for the tip and for now here is the grow space [IMG]

  4. Little good, often not, let their roots explore the soil by letting it dry up =) good luck on your grow.

  5. That's not a horrible set up for a first grow. Do you have a fan? You want to keep the air moving. Cfl's will produce heat in a closed space. I like the spot lights is there a way to prop them up on something maybe that board running across? The more light your lady gets now the happier she will be. The spot it's in now will be good for later when she has some height. Besides the fan I would suggest two things humidity/temp monitor and something to test your ph/soil moisture you can get them for like 10 bucks each i will attach a picture of them. What light cycle are you using? ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1412197112.032117.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1412197126.065550.jpg

Get a fan and you won't be able to flower under CFL's  Plus get a bunch of Aluminum Foil to reflect more light. You should invest in a 400 Watt MH HPS light. there about 110 bucks on amazon. Plus a timer. Make sure you water on time and use the right balance of nutes

You sir should not be giving advice... ABSOLUTELY NO FOIL!!! use flat white paint or mylar

You CAN grow some very nice buds under CFL however you will want to get those lights right on top of the sprout like 2-4" away.

You probably don't need to have all of them on right now... 2 of them will be sufficient for the first week or 2.

DO NOT FEED them you have a nutrient rich soil already... autos are especially sensitive to over feeding and if you shock her its all over for getting a good yield. Wait for the first set of leaves to yellow and drop off then you can start feeding.

Don't worry about watering "on time" there is no such thing. Each plant takes up water at its own rate, water when the soil is dry and the container is considerably lighter than it was when you watered it.

  8. Im gong to acquire à fan and a timer soon, and dont worry, ph is tested 6.4 which is idéal

  9. Thanks Johnny, i au maybe a New grower but i know foil is a terrible idea and that cfls are fine for flower, i am currently running à 24 hour cycle to speed growth but when i reach veg i plan to switch to 18-6 and then 12-12 for flower.

  10. With autos you can actually do 24 hours the whole way through or 18/6 which I've decided to do. You don't need the 12/12 but do a little research on it. Whatever works best for you.

  11. Yeah definitely no 12/12 you will see very reduced yields. Most auto breeders recommend 20/4 but any where from 18/6 to 24/0 will work... I am one who believes there is benefit to a dark period but there are some who do not.

Autos are a lot of fun, I could never go with out my photo scrogs but I love throwing autos into the empty spaces of my veg tent just for shits and giggles.

I am just going on my experience.Foil works fine for me.  I have read in multiple posts and my local hydro store the guy said that you can't flower under CFL's. Unless your doing AUTO's I am just passing on what I have learned and what works for me. And please you have no right telling me I can't give advice. What works for one may not work for another. The biggest thing i have learned is that you gotta do what works for YOU and YOU only! I take what I read and apply it to what I do. Some advice has failed me and some has been awesome. Look at my grow and tell me I am doing something wrong. Mine are doing great!  http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/1331428-my-first-grow.html I post pics once a week. Also here are some truths about the use of foil  http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-medical-marijuana-growing/307506-advantages-tin-foil-grow-room.html

  13. Foil creates hot spots and is an electric hazard. Cfl are fine to flower under Aslong as they are kept close.
You should invest in a couple 45watters come flower time but as long as you keep them lights within 2"-6" you'll be fine.

It isn't as good as paint but easier on the wallet

Your grow looks pretty good... I like mine better but of course I would lol. You are on your first grow (according to your journal) and you gave this dude bad advice on the foil (your link you provide actually reinforces that it is a bad idea if you read it) and made 2 patently false statements about CFLs and feeding/watering schedules. You can get 2 cans of flat white spray paint for about the same cost as the tin foil and you get almost 60% more reflectivity. It's a no brainer even if on a budget.

  16. The guy in your local hydro store is wrong. You can flower with 2700k soft whites

  17. Thank you. Well like I said I am going from what I have learned and what works for me. I am going to get some spray paint and give that a shot. Thanks for the advice. I have been using foil all my life and never burned a plant. IT does reflect 50% light which is better than none.
