1. ok so when i went to water my plants, i guess too much because i found some flying bugs on top of the soil and flying about the plant, i tried to kill a couple but there are quite a lot.

whats the best way of killing these fukers? :devious:
i wanted to switch my bigger lady to flower but now i got this problem.

2. Looks like the spots are from splashing water on the leaves while watering. Just by the shape of them.

3. hey your right, i guess that's a good thing at least the bugs are not harming my plant.....yet.

4. ok so placed sand ontop of soil and will be getting them fly things that you hang up.

5. I was able to easily rid of fungus gnats by simply doing the following:

1. Add sticky fly tape near the pots to catch the adults.
2. Let the soil dry out.

Then when I did water, I bottom fed for a few weeks to keep the top of the soil dry.. I have not see any gnats since.

6. i will let the soil dry out, stupidly i watered them today and thats when i noticed them.
update pic:
.Added sticky bug catcher thing hanging from top(really sticky)
.Sand on soil, idk how im going to get rid of it afterwards :smoking:
.Yellow tub with vinegar and dishsoap, added little holes in the cling film.
i will add sticky tape like you said around the pots too.

7. Just scoop out what ya can then work the rest of the sand into your soil when it comes time.

8. ok noizviolation but the fungus gnats larvae, the ones that lays eggs and feed off the roots, will what i have done kill them or no??
i understand that the adult (flying) ones will die off eventually but what about the the gnats in my soil will they still survive??

i was thinking one week to see if the bugs are gone then switch to flower cause that 5 gal pot will get rootbound.

thanks for help, peace of mind :smoke:

9. Drying out the plant will kill off the larvae. If you fear you've allowed the plant to be dry for too long, water it from the bottom (fill the trays with water and let it soak through the drainage holes)

That's all I needed to do, and have not had gnats since.

10. If you are near farmland they might be resistant to normal treatments,

If all else fails try gnatrol off ebay. Its 37% bt vs the 18% of mosquito dunks and cheaper too.

My last resort is pyrethrin. Nothin survives it.

11. thanks people yh quidado your right i will bottom feed in the trays they are in.
if that dont work, then i will get the pyrethrin (sounds scary dangerous) that poke is saying and pour the whole bottle
