I have a regular nothing special bong and it's big enough to put crushed ice in the water would that make it just like a actual ice bong?
ya man it works just fine. you might get a little bit of water in and around your mouth but aside from that, DO EET!
Ice is more annoying than anything. All my bongs have had ice pinches and I never put them in because they melt in 10 minutes and I have to empty water out. It doesn't make it so you can take bigger hits, that's a myth. I can take the same amount of weed in hot water as I could cold water and room temp. It won't hurt anything, try it and see for yourself.

Personally I don't like ice, it condenses the smoke then when it enters your lungs it expands and makes you cough up a lung. I just use room temp distilled water.
