  1. so the max life of these ipods are like 7 years.. thats bullshit. either the flash memory starts giving read/write errors or the battery fucks up.

when will they come out with a device i can be confident knowing my massive music library will last me the rest of my life? its 2014 for fuck sakes

They won't make one to last forever, they could but they won't.

Welcome to our world of ever exceeding profits through planned obsolescence.

I'm right there with you though, my six year old iPod is giving up the ghost. A lot of my music is getting corrupted and thanks to apple's oh so generous stance on information sharing, I can't copy my music from the device to save it...

Fuck Apple and fuck planned obsolescence. Oh and fuck information sharing restrictions.

  3. ^ He's right. Just like how we still have the common cold - or even cancer. We have all of these vaccines and knowledge about other things but we can't cure them. It's all for profits.

  4. Just find a used android phone and put an otterbox on it. I imagine s3 would be cheap now. I still have my ipod nano from 2005, it doesn't work unless it's plugged in. Typically most people I know don't have a need for a secondary music device, they have smartphone. The audio quality of either an mp3 or phone will be lackluster at best.
The pono looks cool, but pricey

  5. I've owned 4 different Creative MP3 players, and all of them were revolutionary for the time, with colour LCDs and video playback. I'm pretty sure I have a Zen V Plus that still works, the others got water damaged at different points that's the only way to kill them.

  6. my ipod nano died recently so im just using my old galaxy atm but soon i think im just gonna fork out and get like a moto g an external card. android powered device that can do what ever you need and has wifi!

The release date is also the day money doesn't make the world go around.

  11. The rest of your life?!? in 10 years you'll be listening to mp7's that will play wirelessly straight into your brain anywhere in the world. No technology will be relevant for the rest of your life.

  12. Had a Walkman mp3 with about 8'000 tunes saved on over the years. Still going strong 9 years later until I left it in an airport last year... Hopefully someone found that and enjoyed...

  13. I've only had one Ipod ever. It's an Ipod classic. I still miss records though. People that didn't grow up with vinyl just don't know what they are missing.

  14. I still use my original ipod touch.  Works just as good as the day I got it.  About 8 years old now.

  15. Digging this bitch up from the grave!

Just got myself a Fiio x1. It's a loss less player for professional audio and it fuckin' rocks. The quality is amazing with FLAC and 320kbps even sounds better. Cheap too. 99$ for the x1 and it uses micro SD so you can up the memory to 128gb for 45$ more. Or just carry as many SD cards as you want.

And I found a back door to salvage my music from my ipod. Suck it apple, you stingy mother fucker.

  18. Nice one on the necro-bump! :love-m3j:

Bought another walkman mp3 only a few weeks back. It's the bizness. One of the low-end, high-quality mp3's, as wasn't in a position to be spending a fortune. Is nifty though. Comes with SD slot to bump up the memory too. FLAC audio sounding good.
